Congrats on a very good post. I think I might give it a link on my (as yet unfinished) guild page, unless you have any objections?

And

If I had Ashbringer, it would have to go into a trophy case. Being a warlock, I absolutely can't wield it.

That is one of my favourite WoW cartoons ever! Cracks me up every time. :D

Probably one of the best etiquette-type posts ever. This is the kind of stuff that should apply regardless of the game in question. If I had the ability (too few posts yet), I'd definitely rate up! :)

I hardly ever rate someone up for necroing a post, but this one certainly deserves a bump now and then. Rateup for you.

Just wanted to comment on this one:

I'd rather play with the world's biggest jerk who knew how to play than the world's nicest person who didn't know how to play and caused wipe after wipe.

Edit: this thread is OLD!!!! Seriously old. I didn't even notice.

On the other hand, being high level does not make you better, it does not make your opinions more valid, it does not mean anything past the fact that you have put more time into your character. If newbie questions annoy you, simply leave them be and let someone else respond to them. Everyone had to start somewhere, even you.

I agree. My highest level is a 32 but I know alot more about this game that you would expect. (Although I need to learn all the BC instances and certain raid stratagies)

One thing about "necro-posting" in here...the thread is linked to in the FAQ, so that means people bumping this thread probably acutally read the FAQ :P

Harumph! Rate up!

You think this is old, take a look at the "How old is Everyone that plays" thread in the Alliance Forum.

Great thread, Shamibell. This is actually the first time I've clicked on the thread as opposed to followed the FAQ link. I thought this was buried under thousands of posts.

Besides, if they have an attitude problem, they'll get all whiny and leave if there is a wipe.

I wouldn't want to be with either, I'd wait for another day.

Woah, didn't even know this was linked in the FAQ post. At first I was wondering how the heck people found this.

Very nice post. I wish I had read this my first month playing...still having flashbacks of trying to figure out need vs greed in Scarlet Monestary.... I think that priest is still looking to find a way to kill me for taking his hat!

Olde thread is olde, but this...

When getting started, as a favour to the public as well as yourself, read the manual!

...had me laughing. Oh, those good times when the manual actual was worth reading. Smiley: crymore

On another note, the guy shouldn't be rated sub-default for resurrecting this thread. It's linked in the FAQ which means the guy found it by reading the FAQ. And what is it we tell newcomers around here? That's right.. read the FAQ!

Of all the threads on the board, it's not the worst one he could necro. I mean, what harm did it do except bring back a still pretty valid thread that a lot of new players would benefit from reading?

Total agreement with everyone else. I am particularly sick of people who whine on and on about how X is broken/nerfed/sucks/etc. I know people for whom it seems they hate the game, considering how much they complain about it.

I completely agree. If there is any thread that should be necroed on a regular basis, this one is it. There is a reason I have a link to it in the FAQ.

Forum FAQ v2.0 - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING! wrote:
Every player needs to read "The unwritten (until now) rules of Warcraft." (and yes, I'm aware that it's already in section II, #17) It's important enough to get mentioned twice.)

I have never actually played WoW but will be creating my first character sometime mid Sept. I have played other mmorpgs though and what you said for WoW is true for the other games I have played. This post should be required reading for all mmorpg gamers. Only thing I would add is to say keep in mind that mmorpg's are made up of the same people that you run into at work, the supermarket ect...there are really cool people out there and total jerks so if you are new to the mmorpg world and run into the jerks don't get discouraged. Also don't start begging people for advice and help until you have taken time to do a little research yourself but if you are reading this post you are already well aware of the research tools available and obviously willing to spend the time doing it so I guess that is mote point.

Very good, well thought out and not just a bunch of ramble put together. It's nice to read something that is well written and insightful.

I, find I tend to do some of those things myself (getting mad at pvp =p).

Well done!
