When I type /wver in-game, it shows Wowreader's version information. So the plug-in is loading. When I upload the information after logging out certain things do get uploaded - for example, item information. So the plug-in is doing something. But my profile flatly refuses to update. Is there any way I can see what Wowreader is doing, so I can perhaps try to work out where it is falling over?

I do pay you for the premium service, and I can stop you know. Something doesn't work - something important to me - and it doesn't work, you have a thread dedicated to supporting it, and I get nothing. I even offer to give you any help you want and still nothing. Could someone please tell me how I can work out what is wrong?! I have followed all the suggestions in every Wowreader thread I can find (and there are a lot of posts to trawl through) and nothing helps. I've tried deleting the Interface, WTF and WDB folders, uninstalling Wowreader, reinstalling Wowreader and still nothing.

Can it really be true that nobody knows Wowreader well enough to help me work out what's wrong? Even if it means installing some sort of debugging addon?

I went through the server logs and found record of your uploads, but I'm not sure why profiles weren't in them. E-mail a copy of your SavedVariables/Wr2.lua file to rale@allakhazam.com It should be named something similar to:
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<ACCOUNT>\SavedVariables\Wr2.lua

I have had a problem over the last 2 days, I try to start up wowreader it starts to load and seems to start a donload (I assume an update) then it says it can't connect to server, the program then comes up as normal. I then try to update and it says the server has "actively refused" my connection, any ideas?

The server is up and running fine, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Have you recently installed any new firewall software or anything that may be blocking it?

I've had WoW Reader before but in this post blizzard-ban-happy era I am scared that installation will cause a ban? Am I right? Is there any definative any way anything bad could happen from WoW Reader?
#155 Feb 21 2007 at 11:58 AM Rating: Decent
I don't think so as this addon just reads in the variables of your toon and writes it to a lua file.. it's not actually contacting anything..

WowReader itself, doesnt' actually interact with WOW, it just reads the directory (if I understand how it works). The addon is the one that interacts with WOW and all it does is write a SavedVariable file.

It should be fine

so how's it coming on picking up the new enchants and adding stats from all slots properly?

ie. my new BC enchants and adding my spell dmg correctly from all slots.

since TBC i've got a problem, which wasnt mentioned here yet. i would be very thankfull for a reply. my mail keeps being unanswered so i try it here.

the new profession jewelcrafting seems to be not fully integrated into the wow-reader/allakhazam infrastructure. the only place to see that a char has jewelcrafting is on the character-detailpage. i miss it in the guildlist and the xml-files. it seems to be not just my problem - i cant find any guild with jewelcrafters in it showing in their guildlist or char-profiles.

i'm very sorry about that, cause i appreciate the tool so much.

any ideas or comments about that?

kind regards,
Shamani

Thanks for the fast reaction. jewelcrafting is now in the xml-files and the guildlist too.

I just made some improvements that should help with that. There are still some minor issues left, so they probably wont be exactly right in all cases yet.

Still unable to connect to wowreader, the error I m getting is Version check failed (expected 6337 got 6403) I have uninstalled and removed all files then reinstalled with the same problem, this seems very strange as it is telling me I have a newer version than expected...is this a known problem?

My Quest log is missing.

I uploaded my character properly with log-in information in the wowreade program and it loads properly.

/wver gives out wowreader 2.01 is loaded.

Although the Numbers in items, quests and such aren't updating.

My main problem is, that my quest log is not updated in my character profile.

I haven't been able to run WoWreader since the latest patch. I feel dumb for asking this, but is it simply that the updated version is not available yet? I am still new to how the updates are handled, so is there is another place I can reference when updates are done or a place to check on WoWreader status? Any thanks is appreciated!

For the record I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and also downloaded the wr-setup again and reinstalled.

Edit Update: The problem has fixed itself, so I am just going to assume the updated version was only partially finished when i wrote this. The program had run the update, which is why I was confused. It is working now, and I am leaving the original post for reference. You probably get his message when the WoWReader is pending an update.

I disabled the Wowreader addon for some of my twinks, since I don't want them to show up here, but every start of the Wowreader application resets the addon to be active for all characters.

Same issue as Bordagar, slightly difft info. Taken from the error log:

[edit]

Why is it every time I post my issue I'm able to resolve it myself like 30 freakin' seconds later. /sigh Curse you Murphy!

I had WoWReader installed in two directories apparently and uninstall only removed it from one. I deleted all WoWReader folders after uninstalling, then deleted my wr.lua and wr.lua.backup files and reinstalled. Running now with no issues. I'll post back if it borks again.

The inventory for one of my characters isn't updating and I'm not sure what step to take next.

/wver shows the addon is loading.

I've deleted the Wr2.lua and Wr2.lua.bak and re-downloaded the addon (by following the link that's provided on the manual upload page).

I use manual upload.

My character switched servers--but it was updating after the server switch so I'm disinclined to think it's anything to do with that.

Any advice?

Is it possible to add the bank window to the profile? Would be nice if you could click a bank item and it would open the bank like it does, when you click the bags.

What are the chances of adding a "Launch" option to the context menu of the tray icon? I like that it goes to the tray when minimized (and when you press the big "W" button to launch), and I leave wowreader running for that reason, but I'd like to be able to just right click the tray icon and be able to launch WoW that way.

Feasible?

I have found a problem with WR2.lua that should be fixed ASAP because almost everytime I upload data, a new version of WR2.lua is downloaded to my machine.

Line 1118 old:

local itemid,enchant,subid,itemname;

Line 1118 new:

local itemid,enchant,subid,itemname,price;

The global variable price is used by Blizzard as a number and WR2.lua changes it to a string. There are other addons which expect price to be a number. The actual problem is probably that price should not be global at all, but by making it local in WR2.lua, it prevents any interferance by WR2.lua with the rest of the user interface.

Thank you for your prompt attention.

Regards,

Brad Morgan

Will wowreader ever export the list of known recipes so that other people can see what items you are able to craft?

If not does anyone know of an addon which will export the known recipes as a text file?

I've been having a lot of trouble with WoWReader.

I have a new PC running WinXP, SP2, up to date on patching. All my characters have the WoWReader addon enabled and running for them.

When I launch WoWReader, I can see that it is launching, and I can see it checking for updates, then nothing. I watch Task Manager and the executable disappears from the list at that point.

If I try a few times, sometimes WoWReader will actually open and stay open. But if I hit Refresh sometimes, since it doesn't usually pick up the profiles, I get an error. I've copied the info and pasted it below:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

I can sometimes send data, but it doesn't normally grab my profile data. I am logged in on WoWReader. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Any idea what I can do to fix this? Thanks!
