Lost my character's underpants (really)Follow

#1 Jun 21 2005 at 11:58 AM Rating: Decent
Well I was playing around with WoW's textures, seeing if I could modify them (client side only, of course, asked a GM friend and said there would be no possible way I could get in trouble), the reason being it would be cool to have my character look like less of a dork, with no success I attempted to simply convert the textures to TGA and then rename the edited TGAs as BLPs out of desperation.

Whelp, instead of crashing the game, or showing the newly edited texture, the article of clothing completely vanished - yep.

Not wanting to look at my gnome's *** I decided to log out and rectify the problem.

The point of this thread is because I thought it was pretty funny, and before you ask (because I know you weirdos will ask) I did one on a ne real quick. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/override367/elfn.jpg

Warning: The above link contains barbie doll nudity, if that sort of thing bothers you please don't leave your house.

Anyway, I thought it was pretty funny, anyone else playing around with game files, and if so anyone else have any humerous things happen to their client??

I took it from such an angle to hide the fact that it's not anatomically correct

If anyone is interested in *how* to do this please say so

Sure, I'll bite. How did you do it?
#18 Jun 21 2005 at 3:57 PM Rating: Default
Take a TGA file, any TGA file (probably wrks with anything! could use a text file), in any case I made a TGA file with 1x1 dimensions and name it the correct name, like HumanFemaleNakedTorsoSkin00_01.blp and put it in the world of warcraft/data directory, bam no more bra for the second lightest human female skin color

In any case I got some more crap uploaded after fiddling

Here is 2 mandatory buttshots, complete ones lower in the thread

Here is the piece de resistance, A GNOME ON A KODO (this was slightly more involved, but still easy to do)

Smiley: clap

It was only a matter of time...

Anyway good to see someone working on it.

Now we just need to design personal outfits.

*heads off to play around with some stuff*

I found a program that allows you to convert *.TGA to *.BLP

http://www.wc3sear.ch/?p=Tools&ID=11

Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to pack the file back into its proper folder. And the MyWarcraftStudio program crashes a lot.

For kicks, if anyone can figure it out, there's a texture for human male NPCs, lightest skin tone, that gives them a nice layer of chest hair, 70s style. I was trying to patch that onto the player model for testing purposes. I'm about to eat dinner, any takers on that tonight? (Bonus points if you're wearing a purple swashbuckler's shirt and doing a disco dance)

I'm not sure if this violates Blizzard's EULA, but I know for a fact that it does not violate Skelzo's ELUA.

That program doesn't convert to WoW's BLP format though, it has improper headers and doesn't work, game crashes :(

On the plus side I plan on replacing my voidwalker with Ragnaros the god of fire. Stay tuned :P

EDIT: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/override367/rag.jpg

Ragnaros looks comfy in Ironforge (name is blanked out to protect me from Blizzard's death squards)
