Square-Enix are the undisputed masters of presentation. Their CGI intro movies are beyond spectacular-- FFXIV's being the best so far... yet this is what they put together to represent their game...
I don't watch TV but once in a blue moon. There's no telling how long this has been running. I just saw it today. I can kind of see where they were going with it. Louisoix is calling to arms the mighty adventurers to return to Eorzea after its brush with total annihilation. It probably looked really good on paper... but its really just... not good. I mean, the words "weak" and "underwhelming" come to mind. Props to whoever did Louisoix's makeup. They really made him look the way he is suppose to, but at the same time he also kind of looks like an Oompa Loompa or something. I actually feel somewhat embarrassed that I play "the game from that really lame commercial." People who don't play will be all like "Oh, is that the game where you run down into the hole and try to escape from reality in? Yeah..."
"Escape from reality, live the fantasy" it says. It almost sounds like they're deliberately advocating anti-social behavior.
I'd be pretty upset if I were the one who paid money to have this commercial produced, and furious to have to keep paying for its airtime.
