Verix Kylox's Remains

Verix Kylox's Remains carries one of three parts of the Medallion of the Kylong, a component in the old Veeshan's Peak key quest.

He spawns at 115, -630, -45 in the catacombs of Karnor's Castle, and his placeholder is a decayed kylong Iksar. There is about a 10% chance that Verix Kylox's Remains will spawn instead of the placeholder.

  • Respawn Timer: 20 minutes

As of September 2022, on the Yelinak TLP server in Velious era, this mob is indeed in the static spawn as others mentioned. He is on a 20 minute timer though. The other mobs are slightly different.

Fairly straight forward to break in as a 60 shaman. The initial break in is tough since you will have to fight 4 mobs at once, but it was no problem once they were all slowed and with my lvl 39 hasted pet.

There is fake wall along the NE corner of the room (look past the spawn of verix from where you enter the room.) There is a single mob that spawns in there, but otherwise is perfect for camping verix.

Just sit in there, and pull ph's. Very easy and keeps you from getting adds or having to clear alot of other mobs. Helps if you can snare verix since he runs.

In the corner of the spawn's room furthest away from the entry from well, there is a secret room where a decayed something or other spawns so that corner is not safe if you're not invis to undead.

.. is to put a level 1 ranger in the furthest corner of the moats to the right when entering zone. I mean : just outside of the water in the corner, at the place where lies the underwater tunnel leading to the cellars.

From there, a level 1 ranger is able to track Verix or the "decayed kylong iksar" (his PH - only mob of the zone with that name). I put that and went to check from time to time, especially after a server reset. I never made that silly camp, except when bringing company to some "ubers" in the Kunark era.

Instead, with my lev1 ranger I have found Verix up 4 times total, managed to kill him without a problem and to finish old-VP key for myself, my cleric alt, a friend, and I still have one piece of a medallion available for MQ in bank.

btw /tell Majax on Solusek Ro if you need it, it's free of charge :)

*EDIT* : damn, won't le me edit typo in subject. Oh , and yeah, the picture here is from me :)

Another camp from hell
# Nov 04 2004 at 6:07 PM Rating: Decent
Welcome to another time sink "camp from hell". I spent 32 hours spread out over 9 days to get the Medallion of Kylong. The spawn timer is 25 minutes and unless you go kill the rest of area spawns, you have lots of down time.

You can camp your character(s)right in the corners in the entry area of the room that the named spawns in and not draw agro. If you move out of the corner toward the pillar just a little bit, you will agro the named if he is up, but not the placeholder. If you stay right in the corner, you will no agro him, so it is safe to camp right in the 2 corners.

I would camp there and come back each day and sit there and kill the place holder every 25 mins for 3 to 4 hours. I camped between spawns at times and set my kitchen timer to go off every 20 minutes and then I logged back in to kill the placeholder. This allowed me to conserve my buffs.

I did finally get the named right at login on election night, my 9th session. I was all ready to spend the night watching the election retuns and killing the named every 25 mins and this was a plesent supprise.

I killed 21 placeholders over two days trying to get this guy to show up. I situated myself by the corner post as recommended in earlier posts. The xp made this camp a little easier to bear. There was a mix of db, lb and green at 65, and I gained about 40% of an AA by the end.

I had resist buffs up and was reasonabley safe from Verix. I left the pet to last and with Shield of the Eighth up, it was almost dead when I got around to it. The room had been cleared, so I was wasn't too worried as we were moving around a lot more than fighting with any other of the undead there. He summoned me a few times as I kept a heal over time going on myself and eventually got my middle shard.

After 5 hours camping this guy and about 12 PH he finally popped. I took his pet out immediately and continued with the battle. As a caster, it would have been helpful to know that he summons. Besides the DoTs I was able to get off, he summoned on almost all nukes. For pure casters, beware. I took him down, but it was a real pain.

Does this guy summon? im a ranger so to fight him im gonna root shoot but that wont work if he summons
RE: Summons?
# Jul 19 2004 at 2:20 PM Rating: Good
He summons. But he has no regen if that helps. Unless you are IVU he will attack as soon as you get to the room.

Me being a 65 bard with 9AA's (lol) I tracked and saw he was up from the zone entrance and that the zone was empty. Lucky me except zero buffage on.

No problem I says and head in. I'd camped it a few times before and enter via the well. Courtyard mobs curiously missing except for a couple. Lulled and waited a bit then lev'd down the well. Killed off the two drolvarg guards and lulled my way into the back room's 'non-aggro' entrance area.

As posted elsewhere here Verix Kylox's Remains and his pet wolf attacked as soon as I entered the back room (no IVU on), but none of the other 3 skeletons in the room moved during the whole fight. Mezzed Verix and killed the pet then started in on VKR. Took me a leisurely 21 minutes to finish him, mezzing him and healing myself three times.

He hit on average for 102 (44-145) and cast shaman spells Blizzard Blast (430 point nuke), Malosi, and Immobilize, none of which hit due to Psalm of Veeshan and resists.

He did 8829 melee damage to me as I did 19055 damage to him. No regen on his side was nice. I moved him around a little with a mezz song to keep him in the non-aggro part of the room. When he summons you you end up a little behind him which seemed weird and was disorienting.

Very glad to get this drop as it is a long and painfully boring camp except when the mobs finally pop.

he'll stop wherever he is agro'ed to. Train him to zone, make sure he is close, step outside and back in, and there he is.

Warning about camping this freak:

I camped him on and off for a few days and finally got him. Just inside the door there is a small area where you are out of agro range of the mobs inside the room. if you go inside you will see a wall support/pillar on the left. Any place between that and the entrance you are out of agro range. I could single pull the PH no problem from this position, and I would go AFK between mobs...25 minutes is a long time between mobs!
ANyway, I killed the PH and had to log for a few. I came back after the 25 minute timer went by and when I logged in Verix Kylox's Remains started wailing on me. Apparently he has a larger agro radius than the rest of the skellies that spawn in his room.

The fight was not that hard, but I logged in almost OOM and about 80% health, and I am a 65 Shadowknight. I Leechcursed him to be on the safe side. Any reasonably equipped 65 toon can take this guy down. Just make sure you are ready for him when he pops.

Camp Spot...
# Jun 04 2004 at 7:01 PM Rating: Good
For the truly lazy, don't even bother clearing the room, just use IVU or bring IVU potions.

Invis past the front gate guards and go to the back of the moat. Clear the drolvarg sentries from the underwater passageway and IVU to the spawn point. Go through the hidden wall and kill the skeleton inside. At level 65, you can poke your head out of the hidden wall about 2 feet and the decayed kylong iksar will agro you with no adds. Kill him in the hidden spot.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Fun Experience
# Apr 19 2004 at 9:17 AM Rating: Decent
I can confirm that "decayed kylong iksar" is the PH in the center of the east room marked 1 on the eqatlas map. I had a rather odd experience with the mob too. I am a level 65 warrior and brought my little 23 dark elf cleric to heal me up occasionally, not much but a help (keep in mind I had completely underestimated the strength of Verix). After killing the PH and a mob in the room, I waited there for about 20 minutes until a dark blue aggroed my cleric and killed him (laugh). I then quickly consented my warrior and dragged the corpse to the drop down point from the Well (marked D on eqatlas). Warrior then died and I set about on my own CR with my cleric. What I didn't realize was that dogs on the skele tower side of the bridge are not on VS faction and thus would aggro him (another run to KC =) Next I came back with my cleric, a 61 bard, and a 65 cleric. They distracted the mobs while my cleric got down the well and rezzed my warrior (0% rez stinks) Bard and Cleric zoned and we waited for a mage to come to CoH me out. (gated little cleric out)
This is when I became curious. I had killed VKR PH before and wanted to see if he was up, so I started fighting my way from the drop down to the spawn point. Much to my suprise, VKR was up and apparently has a large aggro radius. I trained out of the sewers through the skele tower and to zone just when the mage arrived. In DL we quickly buffed and headed in. Luckily VKR was on the bridge and I single pulled him. VKR gates =\ So I thought there was going to be a huge train coming and had everyone zone out (excpet the mage stayed for some crazy reason). After waiting awhile I got impatient and headed in to pull VKR. Venrix summons too haha! I magically appeared back in the sewers, running for my life, the whole time getting resummoned thinking "great, here comes another CR." Just then, the mage CoHs me! He said this clears the aggro but Im wasnt sure about that. Rest of group zoned in and we headed towards the sewers. Once we got to the skele tower, VKR popped up right on the bridge (this is what confuses me, I dont understand how that happened. If anyone knows, please let me know too). We quickly killed him (this time making sure to stun the gates) and I got my medal.

Being a Dark elf Necormancer I always stayed away from KC since I like being liked in the Overthere. But when it came time to get my VP key I decided to investigate this further.
I found out on another character that when you get past the bridges the VS faction hits stop, at least at the CY's and beyond.

Seekers post about getting there worked flawlessly and my nice decayed soldier pet serves me nicely.

Killing me
# Dec 18 2003 at 11:34 AM Rating: Default
This guy is killing me. For the past 2 weeks I have comming here camping him. The camp is a joke. Some people say to go into the underwater tunnal to get to him. I hate going in the water. I get to many adds so I just kill my way to the well , suspend my pet and jump down.

Once I am down there I get my pet up and send him in to kill the two roamers. Get to the first room, suspend my pet again pull a mob and dc him amke him guard, and pull with my necro snare. No adds and pull to my new umber pet:)

Just so everyone knows this camp sucks, it's long, and the spawn timer is 25 min:(. I end up killing half the basement. Yes I am lvl 65 and It will be harder for lower lvl's but any lvl 65 should have no Problem with this camp.

And still he has not popped:(((

His spawn time is faster than the rest of the room by a minute or so. Makes it hard to control the room spawn. Level 65 cleric may need help on this spawn.
