Mission Orders

Rhinostery minister Rukususu has traveled to Elshimo to investigate the facts concerning Iru-Kuiri, a research from thirty years past. The Rhinostery has asked you to bring Minister Rukususu back for her own safety.

Walkthrough

The gate guard will tell you to go to the Rhinostery for your next mission. At the Rhinostery, speak to Leepe-Hoppe, who is on the roof.

He tells you the minister has run off and instructs you to see Kerutoto for more information. Located downstairs in the Rhinostery, Kerutoto tells you to go to the Temple of Uggalepih and find the minister.

Head to Kazham and speak to Vanono. She's one of the three Tarutarus located to your right as you exit the air travel agency in Kazham. Next, speak to Romaa Mihgo. She will send you to the Temple of Uggalepih.

If you do not speak to both of these NPCs, you will not be able to get a cutscene and complete the mission.

Next, head to the Temple of Uggalepih. There are two ways to enter. The longer, but less dangerous way is through the main Temple entrance. The second is much shorter but much more dangerous, through the Den of Rancor entrance at (J-7) in the Yhoator Jungle (next to Bloodlet Spring). Stick to the left wall, travel down the map until you reach an area with Mandragora creatures called Pucks, then head down a tunnel to the Temple of Uggalepih entrance at (K-9). Be sure each person brings their own Sneak/Invisible.

A map is an absolute necessity. The only buff you will need is Invisible. Deeper in there are Magic Pots and Iron Maidens, who aggro to magic, so be wary.

If you've entered through Yhoator, here is how to get to the NM. Enter the Temple, buff up, head down the stairs. You'll come to a T intersection. On your left is a "Granite Door" - go through it. Follow the hallway as it zigzags around to zone back out into Yhoator Jungle. Once out in Yhoator, go down the hallway until you come to a somewhat open area, with stairs leading down. Do not take the stairs. Turn to your right and hug the wall, you will find another hallway and zone back into F-7 of the Temple of Uggalepih. Get to the Granite Door at J-9. Beyond this door is your NM.

The mob is called a Bonze Mayberry, a level 66 Tonberry NM. In the room with him are two or three Tonberry critters and a Hover Pot (magic pot) that you'll probably want to attempt to clear; this will be difficult to do without getting aggro from the NM, however, so be prepared for a crazy first fight. When you get to the Bonze Mayberry, be prepared for his special attack "Everyone's Rancor", which will more than likely one-hit kill whomever it is aimed at, doing 2000-5000 damage. Kill it quickly and you will avoid this attack.

The NM drops two Cursed Keys per fight. Every Windurstian on the mission must have one. Once everyone has their keys, find the Granite Door at (J-6) on the same map. Trade the Cursed Key to the door and get a cutscene with Rokususu. **If you did not speak to both NPCs in Kazham, you will not get the cutscene, and your key will be lost. If you don't want to have to fight the NM again, bite the bullet and make sure everyone has done this.**

After the cutscene, you will obtain the key item: Book of the Gods. Return to Leepe-Hoppe for a cutscene, Rank 8, and 60,000 gil, woowee.

Suggested party for this - 12 people of level 60 or higher.

me and my trusty NPC
# Oct 20 2009 at 7:57 PM Rating: Decent
I died twice trying on my own each time I got him down to atleast 20%, Then he does his weapon skills and down I go as a 67rdmg/blm mg.. "if I brought some hp and or mp eathiers I would have done it!! But that's another story.
Anyhow 3rd time a charm I pulled out my trusty lvl65 soothing healer npc!! all went like a hot knife in butter, he's dead. same 65rdmg/blm mg + npc.
Game plain clear the hall way 1st, even the 2 rooms on the left, then your normal buffs. rest, cast sneak, get as close to the door as you can so you can open it without being seen from the other side, and scan the room then go in and let him see you and only him then run back out the door to the hallway and kick his @#s! "one note: silence dosen't work" or never worked for me nor my npc..so be ready to try to weapon skill stun him or any other means like what I did is cast sleep when he started casting those hughe spells worked great..
Good luck to ya, hope this helps. :)

Nice! That's how I usually solo Ruby Quadav as a BLM75/WHM37. Thunder IV --> Ruby, run near zone line, Sleep II, zone out, wait a few seconds, zone in, then kill^^

Just to repeat as it is very important, CLEAR YOUR HATE. Grudge/Rancor is not a pretty thing especially if it can 1 hit you. And btw, 1500 is NOT the max that you can pay to clear hate. I paid 4000 to clear mine and my bro (the whm/nin) had to pay 5000, so it can be pretty costly if you are farming Tonberries for fish bones, coffer keys, unlit lanters, etc.

Anyway, we cleared the hallway first. We probably could have taken him in the room, but we are crazy like that. Nailed the hover tank on the stairs and then the iron maiden in the hall. Took out the hover tank in the room and then pulled Bonze. Our issue was that we ended up getting a couple of the other tonberries to link and I think maybe a wasp in there, but these are all very easy to sleep. Bonze doesn't appear to be able to be silenced (no surprise there) but he is easily interrupted, especially with a hexa strike to the face. With a light skillchain, he went down with little effort. We actually had to wait for everything to respawn before we could go after him again, so we rinsed and repeated the entire fight.

Bonus to this is that just about everything there drops coffer keys. We had 2 drop for us while clearing the area. The bonus, the Uggalepih Offering for the Carby mitts was in one of the rooms in that hall, so overall a pretty fruitful run.
"Everyone's Rancor" is easily neutered.

I just killed Bonze tonight with a 75 BLM/RDM (me), 75 BLM/WHM, 74 SMN/WHM, and a 75 WHM/BLM. To be honest, any one of us could have probably done it alone.

The key to taking the wind out of him is CLEARING TONBERRY HATE FIRST. I cannot stress that enough; even if you've never done the quest, it takes a grand total of 15 extra minutes (maybe two or three extra if you're repeating the quest). You're only down the cost of 3 gold beastcoins, and a maximum of 1500 gil.

"Everyone's Rancor" hit Garuda for a grand total of zero after hate was reset. When we fought him a second time, it hit for 50 ... the only Tonberry hate we had was from the last kill.

Clear Tonberry hate first, THEN kill this guy. Don't get lazy and skip that step. Without that move, he's an absolute pansy. The hardest part becomes dealing with the peripheral aggro mobs, and potential links. Train to the zone if you have to; the other mobs will disappear, he'll remain.

His only other tricks are the occasional ancient magic and "aga" spells. Any respectable mage should know how to guard against those with their various skills.
THIS is level 66?

75WHM/NIN and soloed it. What a joke. It got lucky and killed me with a weak Everyone's Rancor for 1555dmg, but I got right back up and finished it no trouble at all.

She talks to Romaa Mihgo and gets this: "..."

She has windurst missions Tunin In active along with another one for COP (Diabolos fight). Help...

Did it with 3 people:
75DRK/37THF (me)
75MNK/37NIN
72BLM/36WHM

Killed the NM using Darkness:
Asuran fists > Spiral hell.

Died a few times cause of aggro and sh*t. But we got it done.

Don't need 12 people just 3-6 smart people. :D Lolz

Got mission 7-2 yesterday and decided to head to Temple Ugly to check the area where the NM spawns. After I got there I decided to see if I could Lullaby the NM for fun, and ofcourse it got resisted. So I made a mad dash to the entrance and zoned with a huge train behind me. Then I zoned back in and figured that because of the mpk update the road was clear so I quickly ran in and sang Requiem VI on Marberry. Then I ran back to the zone and pulled it with me and zoned out, ran back in and sang Requiem on it, zoned, ran in and Requiem, zoned, ran in and Requiem + Dia II, etc. I kept doing this for about 30 mins and I managed to widdle down it's HP to 50%. Then one time after I zone back in I see that a NIN had claimed Marberry for some reason. K, I send her a /tell and ask if she could help me with the NM and send her a PT invite. She accepts and we proceed to own the NM even if it did Rancor the NIN once. All in all I'm quite sure I would've been able to bring it down with the Requiem. It wasn't that hard even though I had few close calls during the fight. Worst one being dropping to 50 HP after eating Stonega III. Definetly a fun experience.
GO THROUGH DEN OF RANCOR --- EASY ---
# Feb 02 2006 at 12:58 AM Rating: Decent
The guide says to go through Temple of Uggalepih to get to Bonze cause it's safer... It really made the Den of Rancor out to be really difficult, but faster.

My Mission static decided to take the Den of Rancor path and it was a 30 second (no joke, we timed it) walk/run through DoR to get to ToU. From there we invised ran down the hall where the four Offering "???" (for Carby Mitts NM) are, turned left, opened a "___" door and there was Bonze. In all it took us less than a minute to get to the room from Den of Rancor entrance.

more fun

Duod 75 rdm/blm and 72 bst/whm.

We pulled it to the zone using a pet and fought it there. Courier carrie was wonderful, as always, putting up with her duties without a single complaint.

I felt a bit useless this fight, mainly zoning in and out, tossing out the odd cure, tanking for a short time between pets.

BST had to use a bee pet at one point because of the call timer on snipper-in-a-can. He does like to lay down the burst and flare action, does old Bonze lol.

Three Taru mages vs Bonze Marberry
# Jan 12 2006 at 11:11 PM Rating: Decent
Defeated the Bonze Marberry with 72 whm/smn, 69 blm/whm and a 66 rdm/nin. White mage pulled nm with carbuncle while invisible. Any aggro that the White mage brought disapears via the new update. Red Mage tanked nm. When Black Mage pulled too much hate, would zone. Camp was on the stairs in next to the zone you enter from Yhoator Jungle. As long as you make sure you have blink and stoneskin up should be fine. Black Mage did use 2hr.

I would have to disagree with the walkthrough and highly recommend the Den of Rancor entrance. To get through the tiny section of DoR takes less than a minute, and only Sneak is required for about the last 10 seconds. Invisible is never required (unless you go the wrong way and get eaten by monkeys...so, you know, don't go the wrong way). Just enter DoR from Yhoator and quasi-hug (without falling down holes) the right wall, sneaking up once you see the Pucks. That's all.

Once you get into the temple, only Invisible is required. Everyone, including mages, should have Tonko tools/Prism Powders for moving around the temple, as there are plenty of dolls (magic aggro) wandering the halls that you really don't want to fight.

If the chieftainess only says
"You're on this boat for the long hual, mister. You jump off now, you'll be taking down someone's dreams with you.
But, you stay on too long, and you might sink anyway..."
and wont give you the mission, you are stuck on this quest:
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?realm=&fquest=304

You can not start the mission until you have completed this stupid quest.

This is incorrect, only because the actual walkthrough is incorrect. The chieftaness is not one of the people you need to talk to for this mission. I did this mission this evening with "A Question Of Taste" active, and still had no problems completing it.

Corrections to the Walkthrough:

(First off, the text in the walkthrough for Jakoh Wahcondalo and Romaa Mihgo are the texts for Zilart Mission 4. They are not texts related to this quest. Nor is the Sacrificial Chamber key a key item needed for this quest. That is also specifically for Zilart Mission 4.)

In Kazham, you should speak to:

1) Vanono — a tarutaru from the Rhinostery, who recently saw Minister Rikususu when she arrived in Kazham. She's one of the three tarutarus located to your right as you exit the air travel agency in Kazham.

2) Romaa Mihgo — She will tell you that Minister Rikususu was searching for Iru-Kuiru, and that Iru-Kuiru was banished to the Temple of Uggalepih years ago. So if you want to find the Minister, you should start looking there.

(Note that the chieftaness does not have any text relevant to this mission.)

Confirmed, I have the "A Question of Taste" quest active, and was able to complete 7-2 while just talking to Vanono and Romaa Mihgo.

I killed the Golem NM for the quest while we were there, but I never finished it until after I was Rank 8.

I just completed this, and need to give some help. The walk-through over all is correct, however there is some information included that is not correct, relating specifically to the NPC conversations.

The order of NPC conversations is correct, however:

1. Jakoh Wahcondalo MIGHT/MIGHT NOT give you a key item:Sacrificial Chamber Key. The key item is obtained from the cut scenes for ZM4, so if you have already received it then, you will not receive it now. If you have already completed ZM4, they key item will dissapear from your key item list, don't worry, you will be able to complete Windy 7-2. If you have not yet triggered these cut scenes for ZM4, but have completed ZM3, you should receive the key item.

2. Romaa Mihgo DOES NOT talk about Gilgamesh being silly, this is also from ZM4. She will however, tell you that the minister went to the Temple, and instructs you to go there.

The order of NPCs are correct and you DO need to talk to all four, I completed this mission without the key item or Romaa Mihgo talking about Gilgamesh.

Hope this helps!

This looked much easier on paper than it did in execution. The way through Temple of Ugly People is quite clear, when you enter at F-7 you go straight down to a T interesection with two sets of stairs to the left or right.

The NM is to the Right. The door you trade to is to the Left. Keep this in mind.

In the pathway towards the NM room, there is an Iron Maiden. I suggest killing him before going further. In the door closest to the NM room is a Tonberry NIN that can aggro, so watch out for him. Remember to Call for Help on the non NM Tonberries so your rancor doesn't go up if you fight any.

The NM room is thus: 2 tonberries, the NM and a Hover Tank. My suggestion is to pull out the pot out first, then grab the NM. You should be able to avoid aggro from the other two tonberries. Bring a BLM with you, Sleepga II is better than Horde Lullaby on everything but the pots.

The NM is a BLM type that uses Manafont, and he loves to spam -ga spells. The Hover Tanks can and WILL use Ancient Magic spells, so by all means, KILL IT FIRST. I don't recommend waiting inside the room if you've cleared it for the respawn, as everything tends to respawn all at once, no matter how much time passed between kills.

When you have your group all your keys, head back the way you came and go straight instead of turning where you came in when you reach the intersection. Make another left and you'll be at (J-6) by the door. Kill the Temple Bee guarding it and trade your key to get the cutscene.

As an extra note, you can stay in this room after the cs is done and read various little tidbits from books there. Makes the story a little bit more fleshed out :3

# Jan 28 2005 at 2:07 PM Rating: Decent
I just wanted to let everyone know, as I dont see it mentioned anywhere where tonberry's are mentioned where their hate is an issue: If you plan on fighting tonberries, or should you get agro and have to fight an Tonberry, simply use your "Call for Help" feature, and it will give you 0 Grudge from the Tonberry race, therefor there should be no excuse for you getting hit for 2000+ on 'Everyone Rancor'
