Theophany

AKA

Korz, Theophany the Sly, Overlord Theophany, Rogue Forum Guru, etc.

Who are you?

As it pertains to Allakhazam, a gamer who has vast knowledge of WoW. I've been posting on this site since my days of playing FFXI, and currently I play WoW; specifically a rogue.

Who are you IRL then?

I'm a 23 year old male who lives in Seattle, WA. I've done a great many things throughout my short life. Don't really care to go into details.

WoW Characters

Name Level Class
Oroz 80 Death Knight
Korz 77 Rogue
Masheen 62 Hunter
Dumbrage 70 Priest
Löcke 70 Shaman
Theophany 70 Hunter

What kind of experience do you have in WoW?

Depends on what aspect of the game. In PvE, I've got experience through BT (up to Mother Shahraz), including MC, BWL, AQ40, Naxx, Kara, Gruul, ZA, SSC, TK, and MH. In PvP, I've not got much pre-TBC experience. Most comes from after the arena system was put in the game.

Alright, so what kind of arena experience do you have?

Well, I dinged 70 on Korz halfway through Season 2. I grabbed a friend (Umbrage, 70 priest) and we started doing 2v2. I had a decent amount of skill to start, but I was doing research at the same time on tactics, watching hours of video, and PvPing in battlegrounds to get as skilled as I could. I started as combat maces, and about 3-4 weeks into playing I switched to mutilate. I carried the team to ~1900 rating that Season, but left at the end of it to play with other friends on their 2v2 teams. I would have gotten Rival in Season 2.

How about Season 3?

Since I had gotten 2 pieces of Season 2 gear (shoulders/chest) and 2 off hand weapons (I will be the first to admit I was a noob back in the day), I started out S3 by getting weapons from honor. It ended up that I got Syphon of the Nathrezim from PvE, but I used Syphon/S2 off hand dagger until I got my S3 swords, late in the season. Before that I had every piece of S3 gear besides the shoulders. My main team in S3 was a 5v5 team put together and made up of friends. We played a rogue/warrior/holy paladin/feral druid/hybrid hunter setup. We got to 1910 and then due to poor play on someone's part (hybrid hunter), we tanked the rating and maintained 1800 until the end of the season. I didn't do much 2v2 or 3v3 that season seriously.

How about Season 4?

I played fairly infrequently. I had 4/5 S4 3-4 weeks into the season, and I never did find a team to go the full distance and get to any kind of reasonable rating. It also didn't help that I was in WotLK beta at this point, thus never really seriously played after the first 3-4 weeks. I played heavily in the first four weeks with a frost mage in 2v2, and as a disc priest/rogue/feral druid/holy paladin/warrior comp in 5v5. Near the end of the season, I played feral/rogue, but we only did 22 games. After the season had closed, we played more, but due to the power that Ret had at the time, we never got above ~1780.

What notable things have you done for Allakhazam?

Well, let's see:

  1. Wrote the current Rogue Forum FAQ.
  2. Made my Journal into the Allakhazam PvP/Arena Forum.
  3. Wrote Theo's Rogue PvP FAQ.
  4. Made many UIs available for download.

Can we see your current UI?

Not yet. I'm still working on the post-3.0 version. Once I get that ready, you'll see it here as well as the rogue forum.

What have you been working on in WotLK?

Well, I started out thinking that I'd play my rogue, as I wasn't very happy with DKs in beta. Then one of my RL friends rolled a DK, and I started leveling one because I wanted to help him. Turns out they fixed a lot of the stuff I felt was crappy about the class, and I'm now chugging along in the 70s reading up on DK theorycraft, making my own, and generally having a blast. I have no idea whether I'll do anything beyond 10 mans, but I feel confident that I'll be doing arena on my DK. Look for more threads by me on the DK forum.

Why are you not Sage/Guru?

Because I'm a jerk. I've been a jerk since pretty much day 1 of joining the forums here. The only reason I'm not sub-default permanently is because I make quality FAQs, and people find me funny.

What do you look like IRL?

This.

How do we contact you outside of Allakhazam?

Well, there are a two ways:

  1. AIM: phoenixification
  2. In-game: Make an alt on Draka and talk to me directly.
