The Sarnak were introduced with the Rise of Kunark expansion.
The Sarnak were originally created by Venril Sathir, by a magical cross-breeding of and Dragon, as soldiers. With the first fall of Sathir the Sarnak went feral and spread into the wild. Through some unknown agency, they eventually vanished....
Recently, Spiroc mages found a way to reawaken and improve the Sarnak, once again as soldiers for their battles against the Dragons and Droag. These new Sarnak are smaller, but stronger and smarter than the previous generations. The Sarnak were not willing to be enslaved a second time, and overthrew their would-be masters.
Now, they face attack and extinction on two fronts; on one side, the Spiroc who wanted them enslave them are not really willing to live beside them as good neighbors, and on the other the Ring of Scale, for whatever reason, hunts them continuously.
