Rift Zone:Realm of the Fae

Contents [hide]

Introduction

Realm of the Fae is one of the first instances encountered in RIFT (and is the first encountered by the Guardian faction). Fae Lord Twyl, a favorite of the Greenscale, has isolated himself in his own personal dimension, yet his fingers still reach out into the world corrupting Silverwood.

History

"In Silverwood, in Hedgerow Court, there is an old wishing well. Anyone who falls down the well lands in a maze of high hedges, where the air is sweet and still and faeries flutter overhead. Most never find their way out, but the truly unfortunate wander through the labyrinth and into a stolen world of madness and torment. The faeries have ripped away a piece of Telara, bending it to their will in every aspect, from its physics to its weather. This kidnapped land is the Fae Lord Twyl’s playground and stronghold, and he calls it the Realm of the Fae." -Trion (Source)

How to get to Realm of the Fae

Northern Silverwood, in the maze of vines and leaves (Hedgerow Court), there is a portal in the ground which will teleport the player into the instance.

When in a group the first person to zone in triggers an option for the rest of the part to zone in as well, no matter how far or close they are to the actual entrance.

If you have been near enough to the entrance, it will show on your map as a green gem.

Trickster Maelow

Trickster Maelow is the first boss encountered in the Realm of the Fae instance. She is standing at the end of the Spring based section between her two guards.

Fight Encounter

Trickster Maelow is often cited to be one of the hardest hitting bosses in this instance, making her the toughest if there is not a dedicated healer. This is in part due to the fact that her two guards play a very important role.

The guard on her right, Lifeward Brae keeps Trickster Maelow from taking damage. If you wish to defeat the boss with Brae still alive, it will take some coordinated crowd control tactics to keep her from healing Maelow.

The guard on her left, Lifeward Celoah, increases Trickster Maelow's damage. It is significantly easier to kill the boss with Celoah still alive, but be prepared for high damage hits.

Discuss with the group beforehand, or have the leader mark the order in which you want to kill the guards. Some groups prefer to take out Brae first, while others prefer Celoah. Either way, the tank generally keeps a close eye on Maelow (sometimes only attacking her), to make sure she doesn't swap targets. The fact that she hits hard, makes a very quick death to any Cleric or Mage that pulls aggro.

Loot

Luggodhan

Luggodhan is the second boss encountered and is found at the end of the Summer based section of the instance.

Fight Encounter

Luggodhan is a relatively straightforward fight. He is by himself at the back of a pool of water (too shallow to cause one to have to swim, so don't worry). Every now and again, however, he casts a targeted Area of Effect spell (most often noticed appearing on the ranged attackers of the group). It does minimal damage, but does cause a significant slow effect. If you see it appear, simply walk out of it.

Tank just keeps a hold of Luggodhan and there should be no problems at all.

Loot

Battlemaster Atrophinius

Battlemaster Atrophinius is the boss waiting at the end of the Autumn section of the instance.

Dialogue
Battlemaster Atrophinius: "It seems we have guests, lads! Come, wanderers, and join us for some mead. We have a fresh brew arriving shortly."

Autumnal Lackey: "But Atrophinius, these interlopers seek to harm Lord Twyl!"

Battlemaster Atrophinius: "Then let us toast to Twyl's demise! That frosty fop has rules our court too long. Now where is that new keg?"

Autumnal Lackey: "Master, the mead is not coming. While you dozed these vandals butchered our best brewers and exterminated our prized vespids!"

Battlemaster Atrophinius: "WHAT!? I would have you as guests, and you desecrate my mead garden! Pull the wings from every wanton pixie! Skin every slimy bogling in the marsh! But do not interfere with my revelry! You will pay for this insult."

Fight Encounter

When you first encounter Battlemaster Atrophinius he will give a little speech, then become targetable. In the speech he converses with one or both Autumnal Lackeys which are present during the battle as well.

The Battlemaster is known for his brutal Area Effect knockback that he performs every now and again. It doesn't do much damage (or any at all) but does kick the party in all directions. Ranged should stay at a distance where they would not cause trouble if knocked back, and the tank should place themselves against a wall. Other than that, it is a straightforward brawl with the boss. The two Lackeys are caster types, but do not do significant damage. Most parties ignore them.

Upon defeating Atrophinius, the two Lackeys will run away and despawn.
