What is a potion?

A potion is a drinkable item that will apply an effect to the user. Potions are created by players who have learned the alchemy profession, available as drops or buyable from some vendors. Elixirs and Flasks, available to players with a higher alchemy skill, provide stat improvements while potions provide other effects. Health and Mana restore potions all have a base critical (crit) chance which increases its use value by 50%.

Other types of potions

In addition to potions, Alchemists can also make either Elixirs or Flasks.

  1. Elixirs are potions with a buff effect. A player can only use one offensive elixir and one defensive elixir at a time. (They are marked as Battle Elixir or Guardian Elixir.)
  2. Flasks are special extra-powerful effects that last for two hours, regardless of if the character dies, and count as both types of elixir.
  3. Certain special tradeskill materials can only be created through the alchemical process of Transmutation.
