Development Director

As Development Director for Wowhead and the ZAM Network, the candidate relies on their solid background of project management and familiarity with web development to both help design and manage the ZAM Network's vast array of sites, including ZAM.com and Wowhead.com.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage the ZAM Network team of developers day to day
• Determine development direction of the network--both in the present and the future
• Oversee daily project management across the network of sites
• Uphold the standards of the ZAM Network: ensure bugs are fixed, sites maintained, and programming tasks of consistent quality
• Work with Content and Sales teams to better utilize the existing infrastructure and build on it
• Liaison with third parties for new projects and promotions

Required:

• 4+ years of experience as a project manager and/or web developer
• A knowledge of MySQL
• A familiarity with PHP and/or mod_perl and JS
• Experience with agile development methodologies such as scrum and extreme programming
• Experience with ticketing systems
• A huge passion for MMO gaming and an ability to learn quickly

Preferred:

• A strong understanding of and solid proficiency with development languages
• Experience with Linux (debian and/or Ubuntu preferred)
• Demonstrated ability with Apache2/nginx/lighttpd

Additional Plusses:

• Proven success with leading projects in an applicable industry
• Experience working on the backend of a network of websites and/or directing a website
• Experience with network topologies for small to medium sized websites
• Knowledge of hardware virtualization with KVM
