Death knight abilities (WoW)

Presences

The Death Knight will have three presences they can choose from at any time to best fit their current task (PvE, Tank or PvP). They are as follows:

  • Blood - Increases damage done by 15% and returns back 4% of the damage done as health.
  • Unholy - Increases attack speed by 15% and lowers the global cooldown by 0.5 seconds.
  • Frost - Increases armor by 45% and threat generated by 25%.

Blood

Spell Rune Cost APC Description
Death Strike 1 Unholy, 1 Frost N/A A deadly attack that deals 60% weapon damage. Heals the Death Knight for 100% of damage dealt per disease on the target
Blood Strike 1 Blood 0.6 Instantly strike the enemy, causing 60% weapon damage plus X damage for each disease on the target.
Strangulate 1 Blood 0.2 Strangle an enemy, silencing the target for a maximum of 5 seconds and dealing X shadow damage at the end of the effect.
Blood Boil 1 Blood 0.1 Causes all disease effects on targets within 30 yards to painfully erupt, consuming the diseases and forcing the target to attack the Death Knight for 3 sec.
Pestilence 1 Blood N/A Spread diseases from existing target into 3 nearby target, causing X damage per disease spread. Cause high level of Threat.
Death Pact 2 Blood N/A Sacrifice an undead minion, healing the Death Knight for 2600 health.
Blood Tap None N/A Immedietly activates a Blood Rune and converts it to a Death Rune. This rune counts as a Blood, Unholy or Frost Rune. Lasts 10 seconds.
Rune Tap 1 Blood N/A (Talent:Blood) Converts 1 Blood Rune into 300 health. (1 Minute Cooldown)
Mark of Blood 1 Blood N/A (Talent:Blood) Place a Mark of Blood on an enemy. Whenever the marked enemy hits a target, that target is healed for 2% of its total health. Lasts 3 minutes.
Hysteria 1 Blood N/A (Talent:Blood) Induces a friendly unit into a killing frenzy for 30 seconds, increasing their physical damage by 20%, but causing them to suffer damage equal to 1% of their base health every second. (2 Minute Cooldown)
Heart Strike 1 Blood N/A (Talent:Blood) Instantly strike the enemy, causing 60% weapon damage plus X damage for each disease on the target. Deals more damage then Blood Strike. Also prevent any haste effect from affecting the target for 10 seconds.
Dancing Rune Weapon 50 Runic Power N/A (Talent:Blood) Unleashes all available runic power to summon a second rune weapon that fights on its own for 1 second per 5 runic power, doing the same attacks that you do. (1 Minute Cooldown)

Unholy

Spell Rune Cost APC Description
Plague Strike 1 Unholy N/A A viscous strike that deals 60% weapon damage and plagues the target with Blood Plague, dealing X Shadow damage over 12 seconds. Also removes one HoT effect from the target.
Death Coil 50 Runic Power ~0.217 Unleashes Runic Power, causing up to X Shadow damage to a non-Undead enemy target or healing up to X damage from a friendly Undead target.
Death and Decay 1 Blood / 1 Unholy / 1 Frost 0.039 X shadow damage inflicted every 2 sec to all targets in the effected area for 10 seconds. Has a chance to cause affected targets to cower in fear for 2 seconds.
Anti-Magic Shell 1 Unholy N/A Surrounds the Death Knight in an Anti-Magic Shell, absorbing 75% of the damage dealt by the next harmful spell. Damage absorbed by Anti-Magic Shell energizes the Death Knight with additional Runic Power. Lasts 5 sec.
Scourge Strike 1 Unholy N/A A viscous strike that deals 50% weapon damage + X as shadow damage and plagues the target with Blood Plague, dealing X Shadow damage over 12 seconds. Also removes one HoT effect from the target.
Army of the Dead 2 Unholy N/A Summons an army of your best ghouls to fight for you.
Raise Dead No Cost N/A Raise a Ghoul from a nearby corpse to fight by your side. If their is humanoid corpse nearby, corpse dust is required.
Death Grip No Cost N/A Harness the unholy energy that surrounds and binds all matter, drawing the target towards the Death Knight and forcing the enemy to attack the Death Knight for 4 second.
Corpse Explosion 1 Unholy N/A (Talent:Unholy) Unleashes all available runic power to cause a targeted corpse to explode for X Shadow damage to all enemies within 20 yards.
Bone Armor 1 Unholy N/A (Talent:Unholy) The caster is surrounded by 4 whirling bones. Each bone reduces the next spell or melee attack by 40% but is then consumed. While at least 1 bone is up, the Death Knight's damage is increased by 2%. Lasts 5 minutes. (30 Second Cooldown)
Anti-Magic Zone 1 Unholy N/A (Talent:Unholy) Places a large, static Anti-Magic Zone which can protect any party members inside it. The Anti-Magic Zone absorbs 75% of the damage dealt by the next harmful spell. Absorbs up to 10000 damage. (10 Second Cooldown)
Summon Gargoyle 40 Runic Power N/A (Talent:Unholy) A Gargoyle flies into the area and bombards the target with Shadow damage for 1 per 8 runic power (5 Minute Cooldown)
Unholy Blight 10 Runic Power N/A (Talent:Unholy) A creeping swarm of unholy insects surrounds the caster for a 10 yard radius. All enemies caught in the swarm take 120 damage and are plagued Blood Plauge. Persists for 1 sec per 10 runic power. (1 Minute Cooldown)

Frost

Spell Rune Cost APC Description
Icy Touch 1 Frost 0.2 Deals X Frost Damage, plaguing the target with Frost Fever, which deal X shadow damage every 2 seconds and reduces the targets ranged, melee attack and casting speed by 15% for 20 sec.
Mind Freeze 20 Runic Power 0.1 Strike the target's mind with cold, interrupting spellcasting while also preventing any spell in that school from being cast for 3 seconds.
Icebound Fortitude 20 Runic Power N/A Consumes Runic Power, causing the Death Knight to become immune to Stun effect and increasing armor by 50% for up to 12 seconds. Does not remove existing stun effects.
Chains of Ice 1 Frost / 1 Unholy N/A Freezes the target in place for 4 seconds. The target regains 10% of their movement speec each second after breaking free of the chains.
Deathchill - N/A (Talent:Frost) When activated, increases your critical strike chance with Frost spells by 100% for the next 6 seconds. (1 Minute Cooldown)
Howling Blast 1 Frost / 1 Unholy N/A (Talent:Frost) Blast the target with a frigid wind dealing 719 Frost damage to all enemies within 10 yards. Deals double damage to targets affected by Frost Fever. (1 Minute Cooldown)
Obliterate 1 Unholy / 1 Frost N/A A devasting melee strike that deals 100% weapon damage + X + 50% per disease on the target. Consume all diseases on the target.
Frost Strike 50 Runic Power N/A (Talent:Frost) A strong attack that deals 100% weapon damage as frost damage.
Lichborne No cost N/A (Talent:Frost) Draw upon unholy energy to become undead for 30 seconds. While undead, you are immune to Charm, Fear, and Sleep effects, and your horrifying visage causes melee attacks to have an additional 25% chance to miss you. (5 Minute Cooldown)
Hungering Cold 50 Runic Power N/A (Talent:Frost) Unleashes all available runic power to eradicate all heat from around the Death Knight, freezing enemies within 10 yards and preventing them from performing any action for 2 sec per 10 runic power. Enemies are considered frozen, but any damage other then a disease will break the ice. (1 Minute Cooldown)
