Damage (FFXI)  

Damage is the amount of punishment that has been dealt to an individual target.
HP is the statistic that represents how much damage a player, monster, or non-player character, can withstand before being knocked out, and having to receive a Raise, or returning to their Home Point.

Damage Types:

1.Physical Damage

Damage dealt to you from a physical source, sword slashes, axe chops, punches, knife stabs, etc.
DRG's Jumps, Body Slam and many other BLU spells are also considered Physical Damage.
Physical damage is mitigated by Defense and VIT.

2. Magical Damage.

Damage dealt to you from a magical source, such as a spell.
Certain AoE attacks, often explosive in nature, or capable of causing damage over time are also considered Magical Damage.
It is mitagated by the statistics, Magic Defense and MND.
