Quoted from the offical World of Warcraft site:
...The Tuskarr are a kind-natured nomadic race that roams the southern coastlines of Northrend, guided by the carved cyclopean statues that mark their seasonal fishing routes. The Tuskarr's tribal affiliation is evidenced by the sigils inscribed on their tusks, and although they are a peaceful race, they are constantly beset by the Kvaldir and an arctic race of murloc-like creatures known as the Gorloc.
Yet even their enemies marvel at the Tuskarr's prowess and fearlessness in catching some of the most dangerous creatures in Northrend's frigid waters, including whales and giant squid. Not even the unnamed leviathans that lurk in the ocean's depths are beyond the tuskarr's reach.
The tuskarr have seen their share of difficult times, but with the recent arrivals of the Alliance and Horde, they have found new allies in the ongoing struggle against the hostile forces of Northrend.
The tuskarr are a humanoid race of sentient walrus who can be found scattered throughout Northrend, although they are primarily found in the Borean Tundra. Their culture centers around fishing and whaling to such an extent that prowess in these abilities is seen as a moral guideline for every adult male in the respective tribes. Conversely, the Tuskarr females are responsible for the farming of the few crops able to grow in the frozen tundra. They also collect the few different varieties of berries and roots found in the area.
Although the Tuskarr do not claim specific allegiance to either Horde or Alliance forces, they are affiliated with the Kalu'ak faction, which allows for clan support and tribal control. In addition, there are many quests available through this faction to raise the player status from Neutral through Exalted status.
