There are three talent trees Death Knights draw from - Blood, Frost and Unholy. Each of these trees is geared towards a different combat style but they are all equally effective and can be mixed and matched to deadly effect.
In the first tier you have three starting talents, which make this a very combat viable spec. These are:
- Bladed Armor - Gives you a bonus to your attack power based on armor rating. For those who like to stack armor, this can be of vast help as putting 3 points into this talent will give you a bonus total of 25 attack power per 1000 armor.
- Butchery - Killing an enemy grants you additional runic power when you gain either honor or exp from it. Very handy in either a BG or solo grinding.
- Improved Blood Strike - When putting a disease on your target, having this talent adds to the overall damage output from your Blood strike.
- Forceful Deflection - Increases your Parry Rating by 5 plus 5% of your total strength. This stacks progressively so having 5/5 in this talent will net you a Parry Rating of 25 plus 25% of your total strength.
