Augments have a chance to add extra stats to an item when you craft it. It also has a chance to fail! if you fail, it has a chance to consume the Augment. There is also the same chance of total failure that you always have when crafting that may consume your materials, or may return them.

Adding an Augment to a recipe adds a prefix to the name of the product depending on the stats affected. For instance, using an Augment that adds Endurance, such as a Vitalium Shard, will add the prefix "Rugged" to the base name of the product, turning Copper Spaulders into Rugged Copper Spaulders .
