Arcane (WoW Talent Tree)

The arcane tree has two uses in the mages repertoire. At low levels of gear at level 70 the arcane tree can be used to artificially buff up another tree (either fire or frost) in which case you would use the increased spell damage and clearcasting bonuses from arcane but still cast primarily Fireballs or Frostbolts. At higher gear levels, especially with two pieces of tier 5 armor, using a spell rotation involving 3 arcane blasts, a round of arcane missiles and 1 filler spell can be very damaging... if your mana can survive it. Tier 1

  • Arcane Subtlety (2) - Reduces the pushback suffered from damaging attacks while casting Arcane Missiles and Arcane Blast by 100%.
  • Arcane Focus (3) - Increases your chance to hit and reduces the mana cost of your Arcane spells by 1/2/3%.
  • Arcane Stability (5) - Reduces the pushback suffered from damaging attacks while casting Arcane Missiles and Arcane Blast by 20/40/60/80/100%.

Tier 2

Requires 5 point in the Arcane Tree

  • Arcane Fortitude (3) - Increases your armor by an amount equal to 50/100/150% of your Intellect.
  • Magic Absorption (2) - Increases all resistances by .5/1 per level and causes all spells you fully resist to restore 1/2% of your total mana. 1 sec cooldown.
  • Arcane Concentration (5) - Gives you a 2/4/6/8/10% chance of entering a Clearcasting state after any damage spell hits the target. The Clearcasting state reduces the mana cost of your next damage spell by 100%.

Tier 3

Requires 10 point in the Arcane Tree

  • Magic Attunement (2) - Increases the range of your arcane spell by 3/6 yards and the effects of your Amplify Magic and Dampen Magic spells by 25/50%.
  • Spell Impact (3) - Increases the damage of your Arcane Explosion, Arcane Blast, Blast Wave, Fire Blast, Scorch, Fireball, Ice Lance and Cone of Cold spells by an additional 6%.
  • Student of the Mind (3) - Increases your total Spirit by 4/7/10%.
  • Focus Magic (1) - Increases the target's chance to critically hit with all spells by 3%. When the target critically hits the caster's chance to critically hit with spells is increased by 3% for 10 seconds.

Tier 4

Requires 15 point in the Arcane Tree

  • Arcane Shielding (2) - Decreases the mana lost per point of damage taken when Mana Shield is active by 17/33% and increases the resistances granted by Mage Armor by 25/50%.
  • Improved Counterspell (2) - Gives your Counterspell a 50/100% chance to silence your target for 4 sec.
  • Arcane Meditation (3) - Allows 10/20/30% of your mana regeneration to continue while casting.
  • Torment the Weak (3) - Your Frostbolt, Fireball, Frostfire Bolt, Arcane Missiles, and Arcane Barrage abilities deal 4/8/12% more damage to Snared targets.

Tier 5

Requires 20 point in the Arcane Tree

  • Improved Blink (2) - Reduces the mana cost of Blink by 25/50% and for 4 seconds after casting your chance to be hit by all attacks and spells is reduced by 15/30%.
  • Presence of Mind - When activated, your next Mage spell with a casting time less than 10 sec. becomes an instant cast spell.
  • Arcane Mind (5) - Increases your total Intellect by 3/6/9/12/15%.

Tier 6

Requires 25 point in the Arcane Tree

  • Prismatic Cloak (3) - Reduces all damage taken by 2/4/6% and reduces the fade time of your Invisibility spell by 1/2/3 sec.
  • Arcane Instability (3 - Requires Presence of Mind) - Increases your spell damage and critical strike chance by 1/2/3%.
  • Arcane Potency (2 - Requires Presence of Mind) - Increases the critical strike chance of your next damaging spell by 15/30% after gaining Clearcasting or Presence of Mind.

Tier 7

Requires 30 point in the Arcane Tree

  • Arcane Empowerment (3) - Increases the damage of your Arcane Missiles spell by an amount equal to 15/30/45% of your spell power and the damage of your Arcane Blast by 3/6/9% of your spell power.
  • Arcane Power (1 - Requires 3 points in Arcane Instability) - When activated, your spells deal 30% more damage, while costing 30% more mana to cast. This effect lasts 15 sec.
  • Incanter's Absorption (3) - When you absorb damage your spell damage is increased by 5/10/15% of the amount absorbed for 10 seconds.

Tier 8

Requires 35 point in the Arcane Tree

  • Arcane Flows (2 - Requires 1 point in Arcane Power) - Reduces the cooldown of your Presence of Mind, Arcane Power and Invisibility spells by 30/60 secs
  • Mind Mastery (5) - Increases spell power by up to 3/6/9/12/15% of your total intellect.

Tier 9

Requires 40 point in the Arcane Tree

  • Slow (1) - Reduces target's movement speed by 50%, increases the time between ranged attacks by 50%, and increases casting time by 50%. Lasts 15 sec. Slow can only affect one target at a time.
