Patch 2.1 Notes Released

While normally we wait until a patch goes live before making an ordeal about the patch notes, the notes for Patch 2.1 are excruciatingly long. Best to start reading now!

A few highlights:

  • New player areas, including The Black Temple (raid), Ethereum Prison (instance?), and purpose being added to flight-only areas like Skettis in Terokkar and Ogri'la in Blade's Edge Mountains, and a new arena outside the Undercity.
  • New flight methods, including the Nether Drake mounts and the druid epic flight form.
  • Substantial adjustments and new recipes added to Alchemy, Engineering, and Jewelcrafting
  • Countless class, creature, and dungeon balance refinements. All in all, it took Drysc 23 forum posts to list everything!

This was a bad change IMO.

Super Healing requires a skill of 325.
Super Mana requires 340.
Netherbloom only grows in Netherstorm (level 67-70 zone).
Dreaming Glory grows in all Outland zones (level 58-70).

So bottom line, you have to be level 67 to make a 325 skill potion but only level 58 to make a 340 skill potion.

blah blah blah, yes I know you can buy on AH, but its still a bad change for the game:(

Shaman Windfury!

Awwww man, and at the very end of the Shaman section they sneak in the "no more double windfury proc" (which many Shamans didn't know about anyway). Sad day.

But I AM glad they finally fixed the Golden Hare figurine...

With all that said and done hunters got it pretty good. New moves for pets and a better mend pet with a lower mana cost, more health regen, and no more channling(thank god). Just the whole Flare Duration lowered kind of sucks and the whole "Frost Trap": This trap no longer breaks stealth from its slowing effect might suck if it goes how I think it will but other than that I say Blizzard hooked us up. Thanks.

""Polymorph" spell duration has been changed from 20 seconds to 8 seconds."

Well that just sucks.

Before you delete your mage in disgust, please note how that's listed under "Dungeons & Raids", not "Mages". Therefore it would seem that it refers to the NPC Polymorph ability, not the mage spell.

In other words, good thing, not bad thing.

Well I hope so. I just figured that in dungeons and raids the mage's polymorph would only last for eight seconds.
