At the following time we will perform a version update of FINAL FANTASY XI. *The client software will be updated at this time. The client update will begin once you connect to FINAL FANTASY XI. Please follow the instructions that appear on your screen. [Date & Time] Oct. 20, 2005 2:00 (PDT) [Affected Services] FINAL FANTASY XI [Important Update Details] - An issue where players were forced to equip the "Safety Mantle" on the "waist" instead of the "back" has been fixed. - An issue where reward details were not being displayed after a Fellowship Quest was completed was fixed. - An issue where targeting a pet or fellow would result in an erroneous name being displayed was fixed.

i couldnt even send message to my bestfriend it says server having problems then i tryed again i got pol and nothing now stpid se ,i bet xbox360 wont have alot problems it on american server

And, since the 360's FFXI wont launch till May 6th (checked tonight) they will have plenty of time to get the bugs worked out. Doesnt anyone remember the problems that the NA PS2 people had when they came online?

Actually, the Xbox 360 will play on the same servers - so it won't be free of the trouble, either.

forgive me for my opinion, but the "it's their first MMORPG" excuse just doesn't cut it anymore... i mean, cmon.. how long has the game been up and running worldwide? >_> something around 3 years+ by now, they are releasing the 3rd expansion pack soon, and expanding into the next generation hardware with the XBOX360.. i would say that SE does in fact have a handle on how to run things...
i would also say, that odds are, that they are under constant bombardment from hostile groups/individuals who would like to see this game fail for one reason or another. the fact that there seems to be DDOS attacks with every update does kinda seem to support that idea.. and the lack of problems the majority of the rest of the time is a sign to me that we should have a little faith in the company that runs our electronic drug of choice, and their ability to keep giving us all our fix ^^

i am coming to the conclusion that this is the dumbest thing i have ever seen....the damn halloween event is making me look forward to new years and easter...and christmas at least those events were easy and dint involve me blowing excessive ammounts of gil that could be put to bette use leveling my blm or whm or my nin or my samurai or my bard hell mmaybe even my rdm....ill just let my friend get me through this one

Quari, this years event is very much like last years, except fruit is not considered a treat this time around.So ppl cant just get it from there in town vendors easily.Someone may have given out poison fruit last year.but anyhow, all you need do is look on this lovely site, and find all the treats you can buy from vendors *much cheaper than event price hiking muthas*
afew i know off hand are valeri...somethin npc with the traveling circus thing at nation ranked 1st in conquest sells ginger cookies, goblin in back of muckvicks junk store sels gob chocolate and gob pies.Before i was kicked out by maintenance i saw cookies going for 10k in bastok AH><. next year buy your treats a few days early

tried to login at 9:45PM EST... constant error 1160
rebooted, tried again, managed to login
tried to get on my mule at 10:30PM... at the "logging off in 5 seconds" the game froze, had to alt tab out... and Playonline wouldnt login anymore

I never had any login problems ever in the past

werent those multiple day-long maintenance to FIX those problems?

Same thing has happened the last two updates

Some people are lucky enough to get in. I was one of the first 100 people on Titan.

Then everyone starts doing their mule hopping.

Eventually the servers are so overworked with the update, that there is no room for people to log in.

Which, I may point out is poor planning. They need to do it the way they do it after software updates. You can download the update some 2 hours before hand, but then when you get to play its greyed out. They let the servers get up and running for a while before they let people in.

Now, everyone is downloading their updates and those of use who got the boot can't get back in.

At least I did get in for a while this time. New decorations look kinda cool.

~.~ this is pissing me oof i pay 15+ dollars a month to play this game i get on everythings peachy anad i have to check my mule and it saysDISCONNECTED FOO goes back to pol i sit there waiting on the damn messages( which there are none atm) to be recieved and hard reset my ps2 now i cant logg on at all~,~ this ***** getting lame fast

Must be everyone trying to log on at same time or something. I got the patch dl'ed and made to the first blue screen of the game and it froze... alt ctrl del and now i can even get to POL (...POS) Been waiting for 3hours and getting impatient...

Everytime i get a night that i can play hard i have to wait for this ****....gets annoying sometimes but has to be done i guess

Why does SE suck so much! I wait the 10 hours to log on, I see that I need to mule. Mule, then cant get back on. I sure to pay them a lot of money to not make me happy.

I spoke with a gm and they told me that that ffxi servers where changing hardrives and some server stuff. more like there reinstalling. so yes the game is being reset!!!!!

Eh SE has had some problems lately. Still do we send these complaints to Se? Seriously I dont know if anyone sends complaints to SE or just comes on a Forum like this and complain about how SE sucks... Got to remember this is SE's first MMORPG, hell this is there first online game. I think thy did great for there first try. But of course I can't stop you from complaining, so go on.

That sounds like exchanging server "backbone" equipment to me, considering I am a technician.

Note to all who may be confused: Changing hard drives on a server does not mean reinstalling or resetting programs. Technicians CAN change such things without reinstalling software - happens every day in businesses around the world.

yes i cant rememeber what they are called ay the moment. But it happens after awhile. Player wipe would be a bad thing and if there would be a player wipe there would be alot of warning and alot of cancellations... :(

Ah I remember RAID. Alot of companies use it to keep information. All it is is a bunch of Hard Drives connected to a RAID and 1 HDD is mirrored to another and so on. So if one goes bad ya still got your stuff. though if 2 goes bad :( But good technician watch for that. I took a year of IT and learned a few things but if im wrong please kindly correct me

most companies subscribe to raid 5 ..
where 3 drives are duplicated onto each other.. theoretically 2/3 drives can fail and the remaining drive can back up onto the new ones once they're installed...
I'm just upset about this whole thing..

I was online and FINALLY got help camping for my moldavite earring a couple friends showed up to help me camp it .. the NM was going to spawn at ANY minute and we had to log because of the maintenence extension... I was fuming.

well as you may know our characters are found with in folders ful of data. SE could also have our info back up to take drives. but the mirror theroy is better because it is more logical.
