Blitz Buffalo

Did you enjoy the Sunbreeze Festival, kupo? We expected it to bring cool breezes to Vana'diel, but somehow it's as hot as ever. But I have good news, kupo! The M.H.M.U. has come up with yet another cool festival to beat the heat--"Blitz Buffalo"! You all know about buffalos, right? They're big, black beasts that inhabit the Uleguerand Range. We moogles were able to move them to areas outside of several nations using special magic, kupo! Eh? Did you just grumble something about "troublemakers"? That word isn't in our moogle vocabulary, kupo. Anyway, now is your time to shine, adventurers! Chase down the buffalos and snag the red sashes from their horns! Let the Beastmen bask in the wisdom and courage of the nations, kupo! However...take care, kupo. The buffalos have grown rather upset watching the red sashes swaying from their horns. Sometimes you may start running after a buffalo, only to end up being the one chased! You wouldn't want to be sent flying into the clouds, would you? On the other hand, the breeze up there might be rather refreshing...if you live to enjoy it, kupo... So, do you have enough courage to provoke one of the giant beasts? What's that? "It sounds extremely dangerous"? Don't worry--you'll be fine! Live for the moment, right, kupo? Live on the edge...kupo... Actually, we moogles gave the event a trial run ourselves and had a blast! The sweat around our ears and the pounding of our chests during the hunt... It was a real rush, kupo! Facing the blood-chilling glare of the buffalo...knowing what must be done... Ohhh, it makes me shiver just thinking about it, kupo! That relieved gasp of freedom after barely escaping a buffalo's enraged charge...then turning back to seize the chance... I...I just can't take this anticipation, kupo! Um, anyway! J-just make sure to participate! Well then... Until next time, kupo!!! [Event Details] This event is scheduled to commence on August 25, 2005 at 17:00, and will last until September 5, 2005 at 0:00 (PDT). [Event Locations] - Southern San d'Oria - Northern San d'Oria - Bastok Mines - Bastok Markets - Windurst Waters - Windurst Woods

well its too late now lol but you got the +1 sash, the dash sash from miuras, a tougher version of the toros that seemed to have a higher defence and hp than the toros, these spawn randomly, it seemed every 3-5 toros we killed, a muira would spawn in the same place as the toros. sorry its a lot late but there ya go.

I fought Toro in Rolanberry, HP was In Bastok Marlets, and I got knocked to Windy Waters. I think that where you get knocked to, is totally random and there may or may not be a pattern to them.

Facing away from the Toro when it hits does not mean you won't be zoned. Also, staring it in the face when you get hit does not mean you will be zoned. It's possible that the direction you're facing changes the probability of being warped off, but there is always a chance for either result with every hit.

On another note, this event is great for skill-ups. I've raised my Club skill 28 points (from 0) just whacking Toros.

So far, I've tangled with 3 buffalos. I don't know if I'm doing it right or not, I've only been able to attack them; there is no "yank red sash" command. I've tried avoiding the buffalo's charges, but that doesn't do anything. All the charge does is push you around; it doesn't do any damage. The one time I did kill one (it wasn't really me, I just helped), we had everyone in West Ron. attacking the bloody thing. After it dies, you check a ??? and you get the red sash. I don't know how to get the other one, though. Sometimes, the buffalo will push you into another area. I got punted into Sandy while fighting one. The moogles aren't any help at all.

Sorry to point this out, but you seem to not see the obvious posts below, some of which adequetly point out the way to do this.

You did the Toro one right.
Someone has to find the Toro, bring it or pull it to where others can help you kill it, usually at a cities Zone, then everyone promptly jumps on it, hitting it with everything you got.
If there is a tank that can face away from the Toro while it charges him/her, then that is better. If you face the Toro in any way, kinda like a THF's Sneak Attack but in reverse, you need to be hit directly from behind or the sucker will warp you to a zone.
If the tank, or anyone else that upsets the Toro enough, is near enough to the zone, then that is even more helpful to make sure you do not get warped by the Toro.
When the Toro has hand enough, and falls over, you click the "???" and you aquire a Red Sash which is stated below to have Enmity +1. if you dont know what Enmity means, look it up, but basically it means the creature you are fighting will attack the person with more Enmity.

For the Miura, which is the Larger, Stronger and rarer version of the Toro, it's set up as a lotter pop, as stated below.
Meaning it's rather random when it appears, but it will appear in place of where the Toro usually appears.
You do the same method for taking down the Miura, however, this creature has the ability to not only warp whom ever it hits at any time, even if you are facing properly...but it will also randomly warp those that hit it at all.
I know, because the punk did it to me, I was barely hitting it, but once I did it warped me right away, for no reason. Does this mean if you hit it, it will warp you? No. It's all random...or as random as I can tell.
Once the Miura falls, again there will be a "???" that you have to click on to aquire the HQ version of the Red Sash, called the Dash Sash. The Dash Sash has DEF: 1 and Enmity+2.

The rest of this event, which I believe has more involved with it, has yet to be known to me.
I'm sure there is some way to trade the item(s) to one of the Moogles, or perhaps wear one of the items while taking down one of the buffalos in another region.
There is so much to each event, and I feel that this one is far from over.

kewl event !

I got both sashes and promptly threw my 'Red Sash', its pointless if you get the 'Dash Sash' which is dropped by 'Miura', which seems to spawn as a lottery spawn in place of the normal 'Toro' bull. It also seems that Miura will spawn in the 3 zones connected to Jeuno, Battalia Downs, Rolanberry Fields and Sarmongue Campaign at the same time. I got punted from Rolanberry Fields to Sandy and came back via warp cudgel to find it dead. Fortunately someone whom I helped get the bull in Rolanberry fields told me that there was another in Battalia Downs. I found it and pulled it back to Jeuno and dispatched it with the help I shouted for just inside Jeuno on the first Bullcharge.

Incidnetally, any non damaging attack is good for pulling it. I use shadowbind. Ive seen a THF steal from it, to pull it. I've had Toros punt me from almost Pashow Marhslands right upto the gates of Jeuno. If you damage it, it will punt you. It seems the more hate/damage you draw/do the more likely it is you'll get punted to the outer cities.

Standing on the zone line is the best trick as previously stated. The zone will trigger before the 'Bullwarp' will. The WAR and WAR subs have a great deal of fun being human ping-pong balls whilst everyone else unloads for the zone line. Anything with range is great, BLM's and RNG's have a field day with big hits. SMN's and BST's have an equally good time. Melees... sorry fellas, just sub or main WAR and become 'the ball'..:) Voke to your hearts content.

An amusing event, well worth the trouble if you need the item.

What's also fun is the bull attack effectively gives you about half Chocobo speed. People following me had trouble keeping up with me and the bull as I led it across Rolanberry fields.

Oh... and Bullwarp is a great way to get to the outer cities..:P Shame about the randomness. Not 100% sure but I think the city you end up in is related to your Jueno HP. Upper Jenuo HP = Sandoria Bullwarp and the other two are linked accordingly. I think I'll go to Jeuno and test it... shame this event wont be a permanent fixture. Beats deathwarping and Airships..:P

My thoughts....

Stupid enter key...

Anyways, I fought 4 tonight and killed 3 NQ Toro... no luck finding the HQ sash giver. Rng 65 doing around 400/shot and 1700-2000 Slug. SOmething i noticed was whwnever I hit it I would always get warped, mostly to nearest town, but sometimes to other distant lands. When I found a 72 Pld who wanted to try kiting it, I was skeptical, but it worked out well. As long as they weren't damaging it, just Provoking, they would get knockback but not Warped.. This allowed me to stay at zoneline and shoot and duck into town when I got hate.... which was every shot. >.<

Anyways I got to thinking that the warp part of the attack was damage based and so I went in just swinging and not shooting. I got off 5 rounds of attack/knockback before I was eventually punted back to Jeuno...

Dunno what the answer is but I do know my Nin needs the HQ version of this sash. Horror Head is too ugly to equip for any reason, and my Whm hates it when I blink out during a fight....

well, wonder what it would take to kill one
# Aug 26 2005 at 8:41 PM Rating: Decent
so do the toro's do any damage to you or there attack is just warp/teleport you far away from it? with about 8-9k hp, your talking a drawn out battle unless its full alliance of 70+

OK this is how it worked for me:

When fightin the Toro around Jeuno, you can get hit to any nation including jeuno - now the Toros around sandy, bastok and windy can only knock you into their nearby towns, i presume cause its not exactly a good thing for a subless level 3 newb to get punted 5000miles into jeuno ... or any other town for that matter!

^^ just my 2 cents, rate up if you agree haha
RE: Maybe...
# Aug 26 2005 at 12:07 PM Rating: Decent
I fought a Toro in South Gusta and it knocked me to my hp in jeuno. So yes if your hp is in another nation you can get hit there by the toro's around windy, sandy and bastok.

Here's how to get it:

Kill the HQ version of the Toro. It's called Miura, and it spawns periodically instead of the Toro. I've only fought one, so I have no idea what makes it spawn.

It's just like a Toro, throwback & teleport effect. More hp though, and it seemed to be attacking faster. I would cast Holy, and barely have enough time to duck into Bastok Markets before he stomped on me.

Same deal -- after it dies, spam F8 to snag that ???, hit enter, and Bam! Your very own Dash Sash. (Waist, lv 1, All jobs, Def 1, Enmity +2)

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 26 2005 at 2:26 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok so, I see this thing in Sauromugue Champaign and decided to test this things' HP out... I got off my chocobo, casted Utsusemi: Ichi, prepped Sneak Attack and ran in and landed a hit... a big hit. I hit it for 345 and it took off about a tenth of his HP. As I prepped for a big retaliation, he hit me and sent me flying to Windurst Waters. Now to note, my home point is in Port Jeuno. I'm going to try to Sleep Bolt him until I get enough TP to Sneak Attack+Dancing Edge him, and see if that works. God I love being a Thief

Not true on the HP thing.

My HP has been Jeuno for weeks - I got "knocked back" by Toro in West Ron 7 times, always ended up in South Sandy facing the East Ron gate.

No luck finding out how to get the Dash Sash though - still working on that one :(

Is true ... you CAN get knocked to your HP, you just don't always. The very first one I encountered was in Sauromauge Champaign, and it knocked me clear to Port Windurst where I had my Home Point set. Some of my LS mates hadn't changed their Home Points from Jeuno, and were knocked there from East Sar. However, the first half dozen times they got knocked, they were only knocked into Windurst Waters or Woods ... I think it has something to do with the direction he hit you from, but haven't been able to define a definite pattern, it's all way too fast, but fun. We had a BLAST.

OKay we just killed toro a few times in east sarutaburata and here are a few things we noticed:

1. When he hits you it definitely seems to be a random place you end up.

2. A good place to fight him is right in front of a zone because if you are close enough to it, he will hit you in to the ZONE before it teleports you. We stood in front of the entrance to windurst and he kept hitting me in to windurst woods instead of teleporting me.

3. If he hits you squarely in the back you will not be teleported. I cast flash on him and then ran to the gate - on the way he must have hit me about 6 times in the back and I did not get teleported once.

4. Summonors and Beast masters help a lot because their creatures can not be teleported away.

5. You should defintely have a lot of people to help out, he has a lot of health and is very ugly!!

the end :D

Found toro's popping in the Rolanberry field zone and sauromuge Champign around Jeuno. I hope that help you guys. Oh i had on hit me six times while i faced it with blind on it. And did not send be anywhere but backwards, till i zoned to my hp in lower jeuno. Hope that Helps

From what i have found is that he will only tele/warp you after you deal a bit of dmg. one way to pull him without getting warped is use steal, mug, any none dmg spells and my guess pets or summons. about where you are sent when he ports/warps you, when i fought him the first time my HP was in jeuno and i was port/warp there after being hit.

Very helpful post. If you fight with the zone to your back, you can zone to avoid the warping attack to the Toro and continue to come back and attack over and over.

Now, how to get the +1 version >.>

My speculation (Remember this is only an educated guess) is that perhaps there is another buffalo somewhere in the "Secondardy city zones" as I call them... Like La Thiene Plataeu, Tahrongi Canyon, and Konscant Highlands.
Or maybe if you go to a different nation's areas right around the city? OR perhaps, if you go to the second zone to the city.. (Example: You get your red sash in South Gustburg. Maybe you have to go to North Gustaburg to get the HQ?)

Again, this is all just speculation based on events from the past. Someone should try these things out and any other helpful ideas! ^^;
RE: Suspicion
# Aug 26 2005 at 1:04 AM Rating: Decent
I can confirm you do not get HQ from getting drop in east ronfaure then zoning to west and trying... I'm thinking of trying in rolanberry or batallia downs... one of the areas right outside jeuno... I also believe I figured out where the buffalo zones you to... ok
If he hits you in a zone that you take to get from a nation to jeuno, you'll either go to jeuno or to that nation, for example: I got hit in sauramogue champaigne, and got zoned into windurst even though my hp is in sandy, in order to get to Jeuno (by chocobo or foot) from windurst it's saruta > tahrongi > meriphataud > Sauramogue. So this makes sense, I hope I helped lol I probably just confused everyone ><
RE: Suspicion
# Aug 31 2005 at 7:47 PM Rating: Decent
Hmmm... I was wondering if maybe there is one HQ bull out of the 9 bulls running around Vana'Diel.
2 bulls for each of the outlying cities (6), & the 1 in each of the zones that connect to Jeuno (3). Just something to think about...

Ok, this is how it is. If u see it attack! But if ur Hp is way away from where u encounter it dont bother :) I fought it in Sth Gusta. alone then with alliance. It uses a blowback/warp attack that will place u in any area within ur HP (i.e HP in Bastok u could end up in markets, ports or mines)
it does NO damage! Huge life on it. limited time & number of ppl can get sash from ??? after it dies. No idea on how to get +1 sash as of yet.. It appears to pop randomly in a few diff places. In Sth Gusta it popped at H8/H7 on Vomp hill & down near fire pit, also L9 near lighthouse. Rare ex item, if anyone has info on what it is for pls drop a thread :) hope this helps :)
