I played with map a little dont have Diagram but here goes.. Mainly lvl 61-70 gunna benefit from the change Level 67,68 it start to suck again 30k < tnl
But I like the whole Idea my 65 BLM will only be 26k or 27k tnl lol instead of the 34k it was. So this change basically shoots the 'your half way to 75 @ lvl 61 Theory' out the window.

I'm almost to lvl 73 and i can think back how long I have played this game (since NA PC release). And yes, the new xp system is a kick in the balls for some of us high lvls. I enjoy how the people who are close to 51 love it and yet /point at the high lvls saying, "OMG stop whining". If you were at end game you may be singing a different tune. And yes, since you are saving a couple 100k xp until you hit 75 you are also losing vast experience not pt wise but battle/ffxi/etc. So if/when you get to 75 just imagine how hard it has been for the players before you and have some respect for pple who worked hard and loved the game enough to pt even with huge tnl's. I personally needed 41k tnl >73 so imagine that. And if you wanted an easier game and think xping was not worth it before, you can always go play WoW and cap your lvl in no time.

New Ballista Rules
# Apr 20 2005 at 4:10 PM Rating: Decent
I have two level 60+ jobs and can honestly say that I am indifferent about the exp cap situation. What I think is really cool though about this update is the limited-time feature of exp gain during Ballista. Many people that do not participate in Ballista do so because they gain little for the amount of time that it requires. Sure, finding that Red Mage that cast gravity, bind, blind, Drain, Aspir, sleep, paralyze, silence and slow on you alone and without mp is gratifying. Sure chevrons and titles are cool to brag about but neither have any practical use outside of Ballista. Hopefully the exp gain for participating in Ballista will be good enough to encourage more people to play.... then again not good enough that it becomes a cheap way to level.

Hm. Think SE is trying to lower the cost of Shihei?

Oooh. Much more useful than the AF Armor Storage (in my opinion). I love it, I can store my Leathers with a NPC! ^^

Interesting indeed. I wonder what level it is and how it's obtained... maybe these new ENMs?

That's right kids. SOLO BATTLE. I wonder if you can get those earrings from it.

And blah blah blah to the xp thing. It's done. It's over with. We'll all forget about it in a month when we're all whining about the next thing. Remember what we were whining about last update? Yeah, neither do I. But we obviously were: people always do.

Heh! Not likely. They want to do that they need to make Elm logs more common and lower the price of 'em from the NPC.

On Shiva Elm runs 8-10k on AH 6-7k from NPC. 1 elm log makes 12 bast parchment. 12 bast parchment and 6 black inks makes 2 stacks of shihei. If you can't make yer own bast parchment then the cost of a stack of bast parchment is 12-14k. Black ink on average 8-9k/stack. So for 4 stacks of shihei if you bought everything is min 2k (wind crystals) 24k for parchment and 8k for ink. 34k min up to 3k (wind) 28k (parchment) 9k (ink) or 40k. Shihei runs 7k-9k in Jeuno sometimes less depending on the n00bs drastically undercutting the prices to get their product off their hands.

4 stacks of shihei nets you 28-36k in sales. Synthing cost 34-40k. No profit if you can't HQ or farm/make yer own ingredients.

Luckily I can drastically reduce my cost of synthing by making my own black ink (HQ 80% of the time average), killing some air elementals for clusters and usually HQ shihei 1 in 5 synths.

I agree that lower the cost of Elm or maybe NPC'd Bast would be the best way. But think about SE for a second - would they be that blunt about it? ^_~

Subtlety is their way it seems.

hmmm. I rarely go to Norg as I'm not nin or sam. 9600/bast is a bit better than 12-14k but more expensive than being able to synth yer own bast. Pity ye can't HQ Bast. I've had the HQ animation several times, alas only 12 sheets can be obtained per log.

i dont have any lvl 51+ jobs... but i do agree that they should have some kind of compensation for all of the people who have already gotten to 75 and do not benifit from this exp change
all i hear is whining
# Apr 20 2005 at 3:48 PM Rating: Decent
you know ive been reading these posts and ive been noticing one thing yes alot of people complaining that they spent so long leveling up an all but you know personally i have a life you know, GF, Job, friends, Etc. and i dont have alot of time to play so the fact that they are making it easier to level is fine by me at least ill be able to keep up with my friends in the game and not have to sacrifice so much of my life outside of the gamed too, i just dont like the way you have to play this game like its another job i dont come on finfan to work i come on to have fun and thats that so you can complain all you want and whatnot and if you are complaining cause you have a job at 75 already your just complaining cause deep down you wanted to have it this easy too.

Time Wasted... yea...
# Apr 20 2005 at 3:43 PM Rating: Good
Its not that we lv.7s "cry" about it. It is mainly a realization that we did "more" to get where we are and now they are taking that away with out any compensation. I woulda suggested that anyone 75 with merit system activated get extra merit points in return for xp that has been taken away by the adjustment.

Its basicly taking away the XP/time we spent to get where we are and get nothing in return for deeds done.

yeah i can understand how you feel but you know you do have something to show for that time your lv just because others get it easier so it wont have the meaning to them that it does to you but still i think you shouldnt bash it just because you guys got the level theres alot of us out there who havent acheived the level cause it just takes too long in the first place i personally dont have the time to put into leveling as alot of others do so i like the changes.

yeah i hear all you post lvl 50 complaints as true they should filtered this out with beta but w/e you can complain all you want but it *seems* thats the exp will be the same just on a easier curve to handle as shown by a bunch of peoples posts with that playonline graph... anyways im a 50 drk atm i think its cool (of course i would) but i just hope they add some new rare/ex armor lvl 50ish for us (like bsts get that scorp harness looking armor there at 50..ranperre harness? or w.e it is)or even better hooks us up with WARP!! /drool i could only imagine.....yeah i know its enhancing magic, but its from blm .. so change it to dark magic and all will be good.. (pld get raise at 50 which is a badass spell to have so why not give drks a badass blm ability that we can actually use??) aside from drain and aspir heh... happy420 toke on ppl

If what you're talking about is what I think, all jobs have this type of lv 50 JSE. I think the quest is called Brygid The Stylist Returns, which you hunt down your JSE subligar in Phomiuna Aqueducts and trade it in to her (plus a wear some low lv armor and show it to her)to get your lv 50 JSE body armor.

Here's the link to that quest:

I have been playing this game for almost a year and a half and I'm only at level 63. There are so many things to do in this game including quests, missions, leveling crafting, ENM, promy missions...etc. I think the new exp adjustment will let ppl get to the higher levels so that they can actually enjoy all the other things that we are supposed to enjoy instead of battling for hours upon hours to get a phenomenal amount of exp. Earning level 75 the old way was quite the accomplishment so to those ppl: Way to go! But now I get to max level faster and start doing all the things I've wanted to instead of watching rangers and mages (I'm a thief btw) get there in half the time because they get invites easier.

Maybe it's only me, but when I look at the official PlayOnline graph, the XP needed to attain Level 75 is *the same*. They just changed the XP-needed-per-level changes to be more of a steady flow then rapid jumps.

If so..?

I rather like the idea of lowering the XP. they did it for balance, i feel for the high lvls but i'm not angry with though, yes my highest lvl is only 57 but i'm glad they are still trying to keep the game balanced. now i'm more inclined to lvl more jobs to 75.

I was looking forward to be lvl75 to show to high lvls in my LS that i know have the same lvl than them... But my lvl75 wont be the same than theirs... I feel ashamed, i dont like pity...
But it's true that'll be cool to reach this Highest lvl quicklier... for ego...

Geez I'm really tired of hearing people crying and complaining about the new XP system. Have you ever heard of the word "I-m-p-r-o-v-e-m-e-n-t" ?!? That means making something better! And that's what they did with the XP system. Now it's more gradual, and people will start levelling their main jobs again cause they're not discouraged to see the TNL from a level to another going suddenly from 15k to 20k.

If you levelled a job up to 75 with the old system, Good for you! Just go ahead and level another one now and take advantage of this new one!
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 20 2005 at 3:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) the exp drop is stupid, if the lower lvls cant handle the amount of xp required to level then they dont deserve to be a high lvl. se just gave in to their ******** and made it easier, and those who leveled to high levels before this change are basically told tough luck, another f**k up by se, im starting to become pissed at them, they ruin the game every single update.

why do these people even play FFXI if they dont enjoy it?

if you feel like you have wasted your time leveling, then maybe you should find something else to do.
