Veteran Player Rewards

From the EverQuest News Board: ============================================================ Good News for Veteran EQ players! As part of EverQuest's 6th Anniversary celebration, the game team is giving current EQ players (based on your total subscription length) one special Veteran Reward for every year that you've been an active EverQuest subscriber! This is very good news for six year vets! It means that you'll be getting six Veteran Rewards! Note: you'll find the Veteran Rewards tab in the game's AA user interface. Even better news: From April 11th to May 11th, any current EQ player can purchase a one-year EQ subscription for a special price ($99.99) and get next year's Veteran Reward (based upon total subscription time) at no additional cost! And, for you six year veteran EQ players, this is a chance to get an exclusive 7th year Veteran Reward at no additional cost. A special note: Veteran Rewards remain with each character for as long as that character exists. For every year that a player has been subscribed, they will be able to claim the Rewards on one character. Veteran Rewards are as follows: ONE YEAR - Lesson of the Devoted: A character will gain double-XP for 30-minutes every 24 hours. When this reward is in effect, the character will be surrounded by a special blue-white glow. TWO YEARS - Infusion of the Faithful: This reward grants increased run speed for 15 minutes once every 24 hours. THREE YEARS - Chaotic Jester: Once every 24 hours, a character can summon a Bristlebane puppet for 15 minutes. During that time, the puppet randomly casts various spells that provide benefits or minor penalties. FOUR YEARS - Expedient Recovery: Once a week, this "Back to New" reward summons all of a player's corpses back to him, and gives back all XP that was on the corpses. FIVE YEARS - Steadfast Servant: Once every 24 hours, a creature is summoned that stays in the area for a half hour, buffing and healing player characters nearby. SIX YEARS - Staunch Recovery: Once every three days, a character is healed back to full health, mana, and endurance. SEVEN YEARS - Intensity of the Resolute: Once every 24 hours, a character's melee attacks, damage spells and heals are increased for five minutes. When this reward is in effect, the character will be surrounded by a glow of energy. ============================================================

ok, i got most of the info i needed from the posts made but one thing is still getting me. i have been playing EQ for just over a year so therefor i will only receive the double-xp thing (that is if i don't have to purchase the 1-year thing which seems to be in debate lol). anyways, if on may 13th, i find i can get the double-xp thing, how long will i get to use that? is it continuous for the rest of my gaming days on my character or will it only go for the next month or so or something like that. i hope that makes sense lol. sorry :P it's late, i'm tired, i'm going now

Might want this added to the story:

* Please note that the veteran rewards program is scheduled to commence on May 13, 2005 and that will be the first day these rewards will be available to eligible players, even if an eligible player signs up and is billed for the special Sixth-Year Anniversary 12-month Subscription Plan between April 11, 2005 and May 11, 2005. Commencing in June 2005, SOE will compute the age of eligible accounts on the first business day of that month and each successive month during the term of the veteran rewards promotion and accounts that have achieved their next year veteran reward milestone since the prior computation date will be able to claim the applicable reward.

** Based on your total subscription time as an active, paying subscriber in good standing—game time accrued during trial programs or game time included with purchase of the game software will not count towards active, paying subscription time.

** Do not forget to add this...

Please note when you click that misleading YES you will be redirected to your favorite Web site Sony Station. Then you will be asked to log in to My Accounts. Change subscription and re enter your billing information. Yes kids you will need to go steal Mom's Visa for this upgrade :)

YES = Ok you are done go play.

Not this...

YES = Please spend 10 min to re enter all your billing info.

thats for a good reason...

i forget which expansion it was...ldon, loy or god, clicking yes charged you instantly and it was a royal pain to undo it..so i heard. hundreds at the least complained about this...So that is why its not instant. lots of people just jam the enter key until they see their character or just fail to read =) sony probably doesnt want to deal with that outcry again.
Thank You!

As a player who's soloed his main, a human Ranger, to 50, these abilities are a godsend! It will make life for the habitual soloist a lot easier, that's for sure!

Not according to the message. If you purchase the one year sub, you'll get the next higher reward. For example, if you have been playing for 3 years & purchase the one year sub now, you'll get the 4 year reward.

This is great news for us casual/solo players! I have been playing EQ for two months shy of five years and my main is two bubbles shy of lv40. I play some were between 2 to 5 hours a week and often for in blocks of an hours or less. The net result I’ll doubling my exp 50% of the time, running faster 25% of the time, have a puppet for company 25% of the time, and never have to worry about a rez again. If I pay the one-year annual subscription I’ll have a creature to buff and heal me for 50% my game time.

Sounds great to me.

ONE YEAR - Lesson of the Devoted: A character will gain double-XP for 30-minutes every 24 hours.

How many of you haven't done the anniversary scavenger hunt? Instead of something that will give you double xp for 30min a day over 10 days, you're getting 30min a day for EQ life.

TWO YEARS - Infusion of the Faithful: This reward grants increased run speed for 15 minutes once every 24 hours.

If it stacks on sow or Run 5, I'm gonna find uses for this too.

THREE YEARS - Chaotic Jester: Once every 24 hours, a character can summon a Bristlebane puppet for 15 minutes.

Ok, this one might be more "fun" than useful, but I haven't seen it yet. But imagine 72 of these in a raid situation. A tide-turner, possibly?

FOUR YEARS - Expedient Recovery: Once a week, this "Back to New" reward summons all of a player's corpses back to him, and gives back all XP that was on the corpses.

Once a week, when you die and can't find a free cleric anywhere ...you get to summon and 100% rez yourself? Gee, couldn't you have given us a little sword to wave around in the air instead? ;^)

FIVE YEARS - Steadfast Servant: Once every 24 hours, a creature is summoned that stays in the area for a half hour, buffing and healing player characters nearby.

Got a 3-hour raid? Only need six of your raiders to trigger this to cover you and save your healers a bit of mana.

SIX YEARS - Staunch Recovery: Once every three days, a character is healed back to full health, mana, and endurance.

OMG. Did any of the whiners actually read this far?

SEVEN YEARS - Intensity of the Resolute: Once every 24 hours, a character's melee attacks, damage spells and heals are increased for five minutes.

For 7 years of loyalty ... 5 measly minutes once a da..... hey, wait a minute! Most fights don't last 5 minutes ... and most days don't have more than one or two encounters that are real nip-and-tuck.

Life just got better for the EQ veteran. If you don't think so, see how long you can keep from using any of these gifts once you have them.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 10 2005 at 1:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) 5 minutes every so often...30 min once a week..etc etc. Sorry. Iknow I sound ungrateful, because yeah, it's a little freebie add on. But puhleeze. I have been playing EQlive loyally for 6 years, FCOL, and you toss a 5 min bone? 5 MINUTES?? and no answer to the Real time of Play time angle. Give me aa's give me something that amounts to something. The Expedient thing to summon corpses, that is a WOWSER. What happened to the rest? Once a week, ok, but make it worth the time to activate it....give me an hour not 5 min...Oh well...

# Apr 09 2005 at 7:27 PM Rating: Excellent
Come on guys. They give you something for free and you complain because it's not good enough. If you don't want it, don't take it. I would not expect them to begin handing out items that can tip the balance of the game just because we kept our accounts active. If they gave us nothing, I would still have an EQ account (So would you). This is a freebie. Show a little gratitude...

Glory Hallehlujah(spelling)!!! Sing it brother!!
I agree 100%...EQ gives us something FREE as a thank you for being so dum....err patient and loyal, but some people still complain because it isn't an awesome item that can make the game much easier so they can max their toons and sit around whining they're bored.....WAHHHHHH!!! Go back to the playground or go to bed, sucking your thumb kids.
Seekor's right. This is free and I thank EQ for it. It would be great if the new skills can be used at any level(at least level 20+)...but if it's like AAs then I'm shafted. Though I've had my account for over 5 years,my highest toon is 41 so far.(I play on several servers and play 3 other games so my time is split a LOT).

No doubt. The biggest turn off for EQ has been all the new cry-babys. Nothing kills a online role playing game more then a bunch of punks. These are the little sissys that have fits over who should get what during a raid.

What I would love as a Veteran player is the ability to clicky some other Player/Punk to the Old School Penalty Box for a few hours. That's right Smokinweedude 3 hours of old crap gear in old zones running and taking boats. Sorry no zippy books to PoK teen chat. You are on your own with your crappy weapons and Armor.

Heh...don't know about you,but I fished on the boat while waiting. It was hard constantly moving one space left, forward, back,or right in order to find the right spot, but it was possible. I just hated getting booted to server screen then finding myself either in the water in the middle of nowhere,or on a small island with reds ready to pounce on me if I winked at them. It was a risk I took only if I was naked with just a pole and bait :-)
Cancled
# Apr 09 2005 at 3:50 PM Rating: Decent
My eq account got cancled about 5 months ago and i just got the money to start back up again. How does this exactly work? Ive had my main since april 2002 and my account longer. Does it add the years since the account was made or just the time the accoutn has been active?
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 09 2005 at 3:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is how it works. There is a team of marketers who's sole job is to get people to stay on EQ.They shuffle over to the devs. and ask what they can give them in game to market.Well the Devs.are busy trying to make the always new expansion or just trying to keep the whole game from crashing with the 200 patches,at least, that hold this game together. They throw the marketers a bone then. These "rewards" are LAME.If you have been playing EQ for 6 years dont you think they could come up with an uber item for each class?Maybe like sword for a warrior and such?
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 09 2005 at 4:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) An after thaught. If you have been with this game 6 years you deserve the best item in the game. What is it to them? Why couldnt they have said "Thanks for sticking with us.Here ya go,have the best item in the game".I guess they could have.Instead you get a skill you can use for 5 minutes.WOW.Now thats what I call Worth the 6 years.

Just the one year effect is worth it. We should thank them for these "bonuses" because, to be quite honest, they don't have to give us diddly squat.

I talked to Sony yesterday. The Start date on the Station Access is for accounting purposes. They still know when you opened your first account. My Station Access Start is Dec 12, 2004. Sony told me that my account date was Aug.8, 2001, which is correct. They will base the Veteran Rewards on your original date.
Hope this eases your mind(s)

WoW has nothing on EQ. Seriously. While EQ might not progress in a way that *you* like, it still has WAY more to offer than WoW will for a long time yet. People maxing their levels in a few weeks says something about WoW too. Not to mention all the bNet kiddies who spout their crap all over the place.

Since the exodus of all the "leet" kids from EQ I've been having more fun than ever. I reckon said kids are now "pwning" and griefing in WoW while saying intelligent stuff like "haha pwnz0rz j00 n00b loloolzorz!!1!one!1" =P

Man, I don't know if I'm having as much fun. I played WOW for a day and hated it for the lack of consideration other players had...along with and Battle.net games, but EQ for me was slow (being my main is only lvl 36- and a Woody Warrior as well)it was tough times. I haven't been able to get on since the merger news though. Has it gotten better for my situation? Either way, I love this game and I'm stickin to it. This isn't why, EQ has me sold already (though EQ2 is lookin pretty sweet). I don't care if they kick somethin else out, it's all good here.

I think the mergers are just the kind of adrenaline injection EQ needs right now. Servers were going eerily barren so it's nice to have 100+ people in PoK again. =)

think again, server mergers are hapening because it isnt cost effective for Sony to operate all the servers when the paying customer base has been decimated. This is a dollars and cents issue. As far as these new rewards, sure I think they're cool, and the people who would have stayed anyways, will certainly enjoy them, but using this to keep people who werent going to stay? dear god, I hope SOE isnt quite THAT short-sighted

If you go to the non-newbie forums on the EQlive web page you can get some additional info

One piece I picked up was this - its going to be similar to a /claim.

For every year you've played, you can /claim on one character. That character gains all the AA's = the number of years you've subscribed.

i.e.

1 year = 1 character with the 1 year AA
2 years = 2 characters with the 1 & 2 year powers
..etc...

Techincally, if they keep this up and add new abilities, after 8 years of subscribing, you can have 8 characters with 8 abilites - meaning if you only really play on one server all of your characters would have the abilities, assuming you did not delete any after you /claim.

I'd suggest reading up on the Veteran's board on eqlive. Lots of info there about it, and no it's not a April Fool's joke. The short of it is that the reward scales to the number of characters equal to the number of years. 1 char can have the year one reward, but when you're 2, 2 chars can have the first 2, etc.
