ArenaNet reveals more of the Revenant with a new Legend and its melee focused Staff.

One of the features coming in the Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns expansion is the addition of the new Revenant profession. While the Revenant has long since been revealed and available in show demoes and beta play tests, players have yet to see the profession's entire skill set. Today, ArenaNet helped alleviate some of this by revealing a new Legend alongside another weapon available for the profession to use.

The new Legend is Ventari. Both fans of GW1 and GW2 will remember Ventari as the peace loving centaur who nurtured the seed that would one day grow into the Pale Tree and spawn the new Sylvari race. To mimic Ventari's supportive nature, the Ventari Legend will focus on supportive and healing play through the unique Ventari's Tablet skill system.

When players first channel the Legendary Centaur Stance, only one skill will be available on the right side of your bar. This skill will summon Ventari's Tablet out into the world. Once the tablet is summoned, the right half of the bar will fill in with skills that players will use to command the tablet. Some of the skills include:

Ventari's Will - Will the tablet toward the target location. As the tablet moves, it will heal allies it passes through.

Protective Solace - Summon a protective barrier around the tablet that destroys enemy projectiles. (Upkeep skill)

Energy Expulsion - Force energy to erupt from the tablet, knocking back foes and leaving behind energy fragments that heal allies. (Elite skill)

The Elite skill will cause Ventari's Tablet to be destroyed, which is one of two ways to dismiss the tablet between fights. In addition to using the Elite skill, the tablet will be dismissed if the player strays too far from it.

The new weapon announced today for the Revenant is the Staff. Much like the Revenant's ranged hammer, the staff is also used in an unconventional way. Instead of being a ranged magic weapon like the other professions in Guild Wars 2 use the staff, the Revenant uses the staff as a melee weapon. While players will be hitting enemies, the focus of the staff is not in direct offensive attacks. Much like the Ventari Legend, the staff focuses on support and damage prevention.

Rejuvenating Assault - Cleave foes around you with your staff, creating healing orbs for you and your allies. (Third Skill on Auto-attack)

Surge of the Mists - Charge forward, knocking back enemies that cross your path.

Both Rejuvenating Assault on the staff and Energy Expulsion on the Legendary Centaur Stance create small fragments and orbs. These items will plop down on the ground and will heal yourself or any allies that walk over them, using the items up in the process.
