EverQuest Progression Server Now Live

Ragefire, EverQuest's newest progression server, is now live!

In celebrating the server's launch, Daybreak Games has scheduled three upcoming streams over their EverQuest Twitch channel:

  • Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time
  • Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time
  • Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time

Reports on the EQ Forum suggest the server has been at maximum capacity, so you may have to wait a little bit if you decide to log in today.

I find this rather amusing. A more true classic EQ experience has been available for years in the emulator world, but apparently everyone is all poo poo on emu's. Some of them will most likely last longer than EQ live itself.

Nice quad post The Great Knacker. I was starting to wonder the same thing though. Saw posts 5 days a week. Though a lot of times those posts were mostly just updates. Like updating Radiant Crystal. Than i would wonder what the heck was updated about the Radiant Crystal cause the updates never actually say why an item was updated and Radiant Crystal's were from the Dragons of Norrath expansion released in February 2005.

Still i hope everything is okay with the staff at allakhazams and that they aren't experiencing any real problems.

EDIT: Well now im getting worried. At lest by now Cyliena would have made some kind of post but dang nothing at all.

P99 isn't absolute classic. P99 has, for example, accelerated regen, accelerated XP, and no-spellbook meditation. Three of the most challenging aspects of classic EQ that made the game more interesting are absent. I was excited when first logging in but that was dissipated after those three discoveries. The EMUs are MORE classic maybe, but not classic.

I wouldn't say those things made it more interesting, but to each their own. I for one would be glad they left those out for a reason. But depends on how "classic" you want it. For example, i would not want the old small window UI either.

Emus take some time, effort and expertise to set up an account so a lot of people prefer to go with the easy solution, even if it isn't at all classic.

I had no problems getting in yesterday @ 5-6pm CET (Euro hours).

However, later in the evening around 11pm after I had logged off and just wanted to do something real fast I got stuck in a login queue.

11pm Euro is 5pm EST / 2pm PST, so I reckon the US primetime is when it's toughest to get in.

Have to add that I absolutely loved being back in the pre-expansion days of the game. Playing a fresh Necromancer out of Neriak was great fun. The feeling of nostalgia really swelled when I left the necromancer guild and found loads of newbie corpses next to the ghouls at the entrance to the tunnel. Then I get outside and see all the dead newbies, lots of people resting to regain health and mana... and what made me almost shed a tear was when I saw newbies running towards Neriak zoneline while being chased by the Undead Annalkeeper... Train to zone *sniffles*

What I believe is strange when that server went live half of us must of got booted and could not log back on for 30 minutes. You would think what effects that particular server would not bring down the rest, to me that does not bold to well with Daybreak and the future.
not for me...

Yea would be great if a person could actually use it. Too bad AFKers won't let anybody else log on.

I might get a twitter account so I can tell them to open another freaking server. Max capacity even in off times is total garbage.

And it is just like the last time they opened up a progression server. It filled to its MAX CAPACITY and no one else can now get into the server. Are there plans to open another server like RAGEFIRE or do the rest of us who want to use the new progression server need to wait until the others have reached their max level and are waiting for the vote to open the server further.

Have you tried since your post? I imagine the nostalgia would wear off for a lot of people after a few days.

EDIT: Obviously at this point im not expecting an actual reply from dragonlover. If anyone else reads this though how are things going now just out of curiosity? I have a feeling after a week or 2 at the most the server will die down.

During high play time hours, there's anywhere from 60-150 people in the popular zones (ex: Greater Faydark, Butcherblock, Neriak). The problems with logging in because of max capacity haven't happened for about a week, afaik and have seen personally. It is nice seeing so many people in the older zones though!

Thank you for replying. I am glad that people can get on. I can only imagine the trains that must be going on daily. The last time i was in those older zones on cazic-thule server it was usually just me in the zone alone. Felt so empty.
