Blizzard previews a solid upcoming patch with Seasons, Greater Rifts and more!
General consensus is that Reaper of Souls, the recent Diablo III expansion, gave new life to a troubled game. Blizzard is looking to keep up that momentum with Patch 2.1.0. From the looks of it, they've done that and more.
Here's a summary of what you can soon expect in the PTR (Public Test Realm):
Seasons - Similar to Diablo II ladders. Climb leaderboards, earn unique gear.
Conquests - Earned in Seasons. Season-only challenges for first 1,000 players. 10-15/season.
Greater Rifts - A tougher Nephalem Rift. Race the clock, fight as far as you can.
Legendary Gems - "Infinitely upgradable", can provide special powers, only used in rings/amulets.
Leaderboards - Tracks Greater Rifts, Seasonal achievement points and Conquests.
Combat Changes - Dexterity now grants Armor; HP Globes nerfed, Life Steal/Regen gear buffed.
The Cesspools - "Festering, dank underworld" originally designed as the sewers of Westmarch.
