TESO: Reddit AMA, FAQ & Adventure Zones!

Zenimax answers questions on Reddit and publishes launch and adventure zone info.

Subscription Plans and Store

  • The next items available for purchase at the store are a name change service, and possibly some vanity pets. There is no timeline for these and there aren't concrete plans for anything else at the moment after that.
  • There is no plan to add the Explorer pack pre-order perk (playing any race in any alliance) to the store.
  • There will be discount rates for committing to 90-day and 180-day payment cycles with the option to choose between recurring subscriptions and one-time payments, as well as the ability to pay using a variety of payment methods depending on your region:
    • American Express
    • Game Time Cards
    • Giropay
    • iDeal
    • MasterCard
    • PayPal
    • paysafecard
    • Visa
    • WebMoney
  • All game updates will be part of the subscription. There might be expansions in the future, but nothing of the sort is planned.

Miscellaneous

  • The FOV slider will not be in for launch.
  • They will have full CS support on the live servers, including being able to handle TOS violations and harassment.
  • They spend a lot of time ensuring that ESO is playable on a wide variety of PC (and Mac) hardware.
  • If a group of people are on the same quest, the kill count of each member will be individual and not cumulative but it might depend on the quest.
  • During beta, several UI add-ons added lots of info to the screen, making 'macro programs' much easier to abuse. Also, there were functions which were exposed that let the API display information not readily available to the normal game client, thus making some players feel they would be forced to use add-ons to remain competitive (redactor’s note: namely timer for buffs, spell casting, heavy attacks, including spells casted by the enemy). This was never Zenimax’s goal and they have removed those options from the API.
  • As soon as the dust settles from launch, they’ll get to work on migrating the EU megaserver over to its permanent home in the EU.
  • New systems, like horse racing, will be introduced over time, which will add to both the pre- and post-level 50 game.
  • Overflow servers were added to avoid queues on launch day. It is a temporary place where you can begin your adventure as you normally would – gain experience, items, achievements, etc.  The character you create and everything gained as you temporarily play on an overflow server will transfer back with you when you log in the next time on the main megaserver. While you’ll still be able to group on the overflow servers, other social features like PvP or access to your friends list and guild will be unavailable during that play session. That way, player will be allowed to get into the game quickly, create a character and start to enjoy ESO without delay.

Launch Date and Installation

  • If you played during the beta, you can keep your client and patch the game. If you didn’t, simply log in to your account at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com from Thursday, March 27th onward, and follow the prompts to begin downloading the game client.
  • You will use your same login information as in beta and keep your UserID, but characters will be wiped.
  • At launch, game accounts will have access to both the North American and the European megaservers, but individual characters will be bound to the server on which you create them. Accounts can maintain a total of 8 characters per server, so you could have a total of 16 characters if you play on both servers.
