Guild Wars 2: Escape From Lion's Arch

The Siege Begins on February 18 with the next content patch for Guild Wars 2.

Lion's Arch has been a major city in both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. It has survived pirate sabotage and the onslaught from armies of both the living and undead. The city even persisted through the cataclysmic rise of the Elder Dragon Zhaitan and the tidal forces it created from the rising of Orr. Lion’s Arch has always endured.

But nothing lasts forever. The Siege Begins on February 18 with the Escape from Lion’s Arch content release for Guild Wars 2.

As with the last patch, ZAM will be taking questions from the community to ask ArenaNet about next week’s update. Leave us a comment below containing your question. Not only will your question be included in our Q&A later this week, anyone who asks a question will be entered into a drawing to win a code that can be redeemed for 400 gems!

The hub
# Feb 14 2014 at 11:52 AM Rating: Decent
With the central hub being moved, how does this make you feel; are other maps optimized enough to reduce the lag and loading times like the patch you had to do on LA to 'fix' these? If not then there will be a lesser experience for players, and more lag complaints. If LA is really to be destroyed, what happens to the personal story and the FoTM portal? The FoTM portal was meant to have taken a while to construct, as for the 2nd portal ring that was never used those still aren't ready. How can you justify being able to throw portals together in a week when portals that have been ready for a year still aren't linked (other examples are Southsun and Polymock arena). It seems odd that the startup time differs for each portal - and it breaks immersion.

Finally, is the moa racing going to continue, or should there be a PSA about using your winning tokens now?
Question about the Living Story model.

Now that the first act of the Living Story is near its end, I'd love to know any details about how much it has changed during the last year, considering its episodic model and the ability to collect feedback between each episode. Would the plot be radically different if it was released all at once, or it was designed like that since the beginning? When exactly did Scarlet become a thing? Was she already planned before game's launch? Thanks for the opportunity to ask this. I admire the way ANET is communicating with us players and hope this design philosophy inspire the whole industry. You guys are awesome.

Dev Question
# Feb 11 2014 at 4:10 PM Rating: Decent
It seems like you may be decentralizing Lion's Arch as the primary idling hub. Can you discuss if you have considered linking Map Chat in the 5 racial capitals and Lion's Arch, so that players can freely idle in any of those beautiful cities without being forced to idle in the one (Lion's Arch) merely because most people are there?

Thanks.
Question for Anet

We haven't seen the real Scarlet in a while. Only Mai and Holo versions of her. Will we see Scarlet in this next release and if so will we see a difference about her? Will we find out what entity is torturing her?

Will we have to rebuild the Lion Statue with donations? Bring back a much loved NPC? Or perhaps using wintersday sox and sweaters? :)

Question for ArenaNet
# Feb 11 2014 at 8:20 AM Rating: Decent
Right now, ArenaNet is focused on delivering the finale of season one's story arc. What internal advantages are there by structuring patches heavy on story separate from feature/balance patches? Is this something they predict they'll continue to do in the future?
