Anno Online Beta Preview

Claim your own little piece of the world in this upcoming free-to-play strategy simulation game.

Weaving it all together

If you’ve kept up with me for this long, then I’m sure you’re aware that I’m talking about a game called Anno Online. Online being the keyword here. If you’ve been following recent SimCity news then you may be a little bit wary of the term “Online” in a genre that is mainly known for its strategic single-player gameplay.

For right now at least, you can rest assured that in the case of Anno Online the “Online” portion actually fits in quite nicely with the rest of the game. Not only does the persistent world seem to mesh well with the current game mechanics, players will also gain the ability to open trade routes to other player created islands, allowing persistent communication and cooperation between players.

While only some of the early systems are available in beta currently, Anno Online definitely has some solid groundwork laid out for its online capabilities.

Personally, since we already have merchant ships able to run trade routes, I would like to see some pirate and smuggling action later down the road to add a better sense of risk/reward when trading with other islands. Not all might agree though, there’s a high possibility that I may just be a pirate at heart.

Overall my initial experiences with Anno Online were educational as well as enjoyable, and I intend to dive deeper into this game and see what more it has to offer as it moves further along in beta.

For fans of strategy-simulation genre such as SimCity and the like, you’ll definitely want to check this upcoming free-to-play title out.

If you’re interested in signing up for the beta be sure to visit the Anno Online Official Website and sign up here.

For the Empire!

If you go to there page of Facebook there is a post right now where they will send you a beta key even though it's a closed beta. Also from what they're saying they do not plan on wiping the data when it officially launches.
