World of Altcraft

It's Time to Dust Off Those Alts!

Until recently, those poor little guys and gals I devoted so much time to in Cataclysm had become nothing more than a memory. But now, with the news that the xp required to level from 85-90 is going to be reduced by 30% in the next World of Warcraft patch, I am faced with a new problem: which alt do I level first?

Am I happy? Oh, yes! During Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm, I raided with five characters - and I wasn't the only one. My guild ran raids for our alts while also progressing through heroic content on our mains. However, during Mists of Pandaria, many of us have had to accept that our mains are now our 'onlys,' with only enough time for normal modes and LFRs.

There were many reasons for sticking to one character. The time it takes to level (and the monotony), the rep grinds involving dailies that unlocked yet more dailies. The need to cap valor every week, to run the LFR every week in an attempt to get that one upgrade that refuses to drop; and what about professions? Don't forget to level those!

Patch 5.3, I officially love you. Reputation pre-requisites are being removed - no more doing dailies for the Golden Lotus just so we can do dailies for the Shado-Pan. Loot specialization is coming to the LFR, bonus rolls and quest rewards. The experience required to level from 85-90 is going to be reduced by 30%!

I love my main, but I miss my alts. How about you?

Penny for your thoughts.

A change like that could still be implemented, maybe in 5.4. With the xp reduction, it only makes sense. :)

I would they would have done this far, far earlier.

Like.....5.1 earlier.

IMO, everybody who is any serious about the game would have had their mains leveled by the first major content patch, and are on alts.

OR, do a Commendation-like thing. Maybe 3,000 gold buys an Account-Wide XP buff that stacks with everything else, say, 30%? That way, you get your first alt to max level and you buy the buff thingie and use it and every other character on your account gets a 30% XP buff during the latest expansion levels (IE, 85-90, or 90-95 in the next expansion)?

But meh, I have all my characters on 90 now, finally. And NOW they're reducing the XP needed? lol

I would have rather just seen them open flying to our alts so we could breeze through the content quicker. Yes flying will trivialize the content but after doing at at least once with a persons main who cares? Not like taking 30% less exp isn't trivializing the content.

There could still be a change like that, the patch isn't live and things are being added all the time! :)
