Ding! First GW2 Level 80 Declared

Crafting Trumps All as First Max Level Player Spotted

The race is over apparently - for those people who were in a rush.

After a total of 32 hours of gameplay, the first Guild Wars 2 max level character exists.

As reported by MMO Culture, the first level 80 toon that has been spotted so far is called Surfeuze, an Elementalist with a penchant for tradeskills.

In fact it is through trade that the achievement was reached, the crafty Charr used materials given by his guild in order to speed through the levels.

Congrats to Surfeuze.

How far along are you after this weekend?

People rushing to the level cap in MMOs has always annoyed me on a personal level (why not stop and smell the roses?), but to have a whole guild push someone to the level cap just so they can say, "Look, we hit the level cap!" means this isn't even a personal achievement. So while the record might show this was, potentially, the first Level 80 in the game (ie: the first that is known of), it wasn't a personal achievement for the player at all, so it's not even valid, to my mind.

That's great for this player that they reached 80 already. Pretty neat they could do it with crafting and the help of the guild supplies. I'm just not a player who likes to rush through things and being max level doesn't really mean that much to me. Especially in GW2, there is just soooo much to see and do and enjoy along the way. I like the journeying. But Kudos to you! :)

I have to agree, being a tradeskill nerd myself I rather like the fact you can make a real difference in your overall progression through crafting.
Thanks for commenting Xoti.

Congrats to Surfeuze! I've been pokey, only level 12 so far. Got my crafting up to 25.
Grats to him!

I've hit level 16 mainly through wondering around and getting lost. I've done some crafting but not a lot yet.
