Mists of Pandaria Expansion Confirmed at BlizzCon

World of Warcraft's Mists of Pandaria expansion has been confirmed with new systems, a level cap increase to 90, a new race and a new class!

Be sure to stay tuned to Wowhead for their live-blog of BlizzCon 2011, including up-to-date expansion info and news! Also, check out Wowhead's Mists of Pandaria talent calculator!

Just announced at BlizzCon 2011 is the new World of Warcraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria. Blizzard's Chris Metzen noted during the opening ceremonies that this expansion would be focusing on "war itself," noting that in most of WoW's previous expansions, players were always scrambling to beat down one huge arch nemesis after another. This time around, the conflict will be located in the mysterious land of Pandaria with a heavier focus on the conflict between Alliance and Horde. Perhaps we'll see a more outdoor PvP content!

Also included in the Mists of Pandaria expansion will be a new level cap raise to 90, pet battles (!?), a new class talent system, a new race (PANDAREN!), and a brand new class in the form of the Monk! Metzen confirmed that the new Pandaren race will be available for both the Horde and the Alliance. Players will be able to choose their faction upon reaching a certain level later in the game.

Blizzard, go ahead and raise the level cap to 95 and throw in whatever you were planning for the expansion after this one.. This is no BC or WoTLK.. You should be getting stronger with your content, not weaker. You made the most epic and most played MMORPG of all time, don't let it die with a whimper.

The Pandaren were in the game BEFORE Kung Fu Panda was released. The Pandaren was a unit in WC3 in a Horde campaign. There was also panda heads on Illidan's and the Hero Demon Hunter's Warglavies. This goes out to all people who think that

Oh and many of us like DK's, just because you feel its wrong has nothing to do with the millions who play them.

I haven't played for over a year and have no intention of changing that. A new expansion is big enough news that you don't have to look to hard to find news about it and comment.
And I never said there was anything wrong with DKs. Just pointing out that when wotlk first came out they were everywhere until the novelty wore off. It will be the same with monks.
Troll harder next time.
Really?

I can't think of nothing but Kung Fu Panda when i see this.It really turns me away from WoW it feels like a kiddy game now...The immature trolls are gonna love it but all the lore lovers are gonna hate it and move on...WoW has now killed itself...Naga and Ethereals would of been the best choice.I feel like all the time i dumped into this game is now gonna be a waste...I hate u jack black for making those horrible kid movies then WoW copying and ruining a great story line they had going.Panda's was always a joke they might as well bring that other aprils fools bard class over too cause its all downhill after deathwings patch.
Monk is the only good sounding thing in this x-pac..maybe somehow it'll rub off on me but i doubt it.

Well personally I think it went downhill after the lich king's patch so it's just a continuation.

The Pandaren have been in the Warcraft universe since Warcraft 3, originally they were going to be the new Alliance race in TBC, Also when the game was announced, Warcraft fans wanted the Pandarens to be a playable race. So basically Blizzard are fulfilling the wishes of their original fans.

Well from what I remember they were only really in the founding of durotar which was kinda an optional mini expansion to warcraft 3. I figured the demand for them to be incuded was akin to Diablo's secret cow level. I.e. not really a serious wish. I agree they don't really seem to fit with other races but I guess it's a moot point for me since I quit wow after cataclysm came out anyway. One thing you can be sure of. After a week of the new expansion you'll be sick of seeing pandaren monks everywhere just like we were sick of DKs a week in to wotlk.
