In With the New: Cataclysm Quest Mechanics

A new World of Warcraft blog post is out discussing all the changes to quest mechanics with the release of Cataclysm.

"You've probably already encountered  many of these mechanics as you've explored post-shattering Azeroth, but we still wanted to take some time to discuss their purpose and functionality with you."

Changes discussed include:

  • The ability to complete and accept new quests in the field
  • Quest NPC objective windows
  • Highlighted quest NPC names
  • Resource bars
  • Multi-tag targets
  • Terrain phasing
  • Personal summons
  • New character camera controls

Check out the full post over at the World of Warcraft official site.

Yeah. I quit the game after cata came out and one of the major reasons is that questing/levelling has become so easy it's a joke (that was my favourite part of the game. I used to think twice about taking on an elite my level or more than 2-3 regulars my level. After patch 4 I'd routinely wade through half a dozen or more and hardly get a scratch. The stories are great and are very entertaining but if I wanted good storytelling that doesn't take any effort I'd rent a movie.
the quests are oober easy now tho
