Raimi's Next Project Rumored to be WoW Movie

In case you missed yesterday's startling movie news, Spider-Man 4 has been scrapped and the series is being rebooted. As ZAM user Capzien pointed out in our WoW general forum, Deadline Hollywood reported that director Sam Raimi pulled out of the movie "because he felt he couldn't make its summer release date and keep the film's creative integrity."

So what does that mean for WoW fans? According to a post today on Ain't It Cool News, "someone that knows" says Raimi's next project will be the World of Warcraft movie. While this is just a rumor right now, it looks like the demise of Spider-Man 4 means we'll be seeing WoW on the big screen sooner rather than later.

Well i hope this guy just doesn't jack up this "video game" movie like the other FAIL ones. Mario Brothers, Doom, and the ever EPIC FAIL Final Fantasy (although I thought advent children kicked some ***). There's going to be a lot of pressure on this guy to get his **** right and not just make this into another blockbuster disaster

I guess I don't understand the movie business. They were targeting a summer 2011 release for spider man 4. Ok. Raimi said he couldnt make the deadline. Ok. They then decide to scrap the project and opt for a reboot script by some other dude and give him till 2012 to make it? Does that make any sense? Why not give Raimi till 2012? What the hell...also, is it me or does this seem like too "new" of a series to give the reboot treatment too?

I'm a comic book fan, and I agree that it seems a bit forced to go the reboot route for the new film simply because the studio wants a fresh start. I really have no want to watch Peter Parker get bitten by a radioactive spider again. There's so many more Spider-Man studios to tell.

On the other hand, a new cast and direction may not be the worst thing for the franchise. I just hope the script is good and it focuses on more than Spider-Man's origin.
