Chilton Hints at Upcoming "Guild Transfer" Service

Many World of Warcraft fans are familiar with The Instance, a popular WoW podcast hosted by Scott Johnson and "RandyDeluxe" Jordan. Last week, during show #168 on Nov. 8, the hosts were able to score an interview with Blizzard head-honcho (and former WoW lead developer) Tom Chilton. Since the main topic of the interview was Blizzard's newly-launched Pet Store, some listeners might have missed a brief digression―about 23 minutes in―when Chilton mentions the most "obvious" paid-service coming next; the ability to transfer entire guilds across servers:

"It's a real pain right now to move your guild from one server to another," he told The Instance. "We'd like to develop a way to do a guild transfer [...], so you can move your guild bank and all that stuff at the same time. I think that's going to become more important in Cataclysm, because we're introducing the concept of guild leveling and all that kind of stuff."

Chilton said that Blizzard doesn't have any developers currently working on the guild transfer service yet, but he believes it's "a likely candidate for the future." We've known since BlizzCon 2009 that WoW's entire guilds system is slated for drastic upgrades, set to coincide on or shortly before Cataclysm's release. It sounds like a much-needed feature; one that probably would have held numerous guilds together in the past, if they would have been able to switch servers as a group and retain all items, member data and stats. But how much will it cost? The usual price, per "individual character" transfer? Or maybe an alternative and cheaper "flat-rate," that a handful of guild officers can afford?

My banker toon's Guild bank could use a different name, it was bought for the 3 tabs cheap.
Big Demand for This

I believe that the demand for this wil be very big. I am currently within a guild that is unhappy witht eh server we are on and we have a rather full GB too boot. Transfering all of our characters will be a pain plus the cost of a new guild charter and the bank for ingame gold is at this time kinda stopping us from moving. I would be willing to pay as the guild leader for our entire guild to be moved to another server.
Blizzard should watch out how much they charge for this service, maybe making it a bit more expensive to move larger guilds than smaller ones.
The guild im in wants to move to a server which is moore balanced (Alliance own the server we are on atm).
Another thing that could make a lot of players happy is balancing the server populations out. But that is for another topic.
Guild transfere I am all for it, hurry up bliz its time for a change.
there will be a demand

Now that its been put out there, Its gonna be harped on pretty hard.

When I started Playing a few years ago, I started with no friends on. much like an infection, my friends all saw that I was having so much fun with it and Started joining in throngs.
The Problem lies herein: I was one of those people who wanted to be on an RP server. I liked the lax community, and the somewhat staying in Character (Couldn't tell I grew up in a drama community)... My friends wanted t play with me, and all started joining up in the RP server inquestion, only to find they were More PVE or PVP types of folk. and when their friends started in and they started their own Raiding guilds, they became very tethered down to their established guilds and practically resented me.
Im truely excited for this service, cuz now the friends of mine that do miss me (I transfered to a lower population RP realm) or the ones who'd rather be in a much more lax-i-daisy kind of community can go to such places.

and quit complaining to me.

*EDIT* I like to add E's to the end of things... cuz Im RP like that :P
