Job Adjustments and Additions: Part 1

Easily one of the most sought after bits of information for any version update, the adjustments and additions to the playable jobs is hotly discussed and debated on. This upcoming version update will see changes and additions to the summoner, beastmaster, and ranger jobs, with today's announcement delving into the masters of the bow and gun, the ranger.

The November version update will feature a host of welcome refinements for three time-honored professions: rangers, beastmasters, and summoners. In Part I of our preview, we shine the spotlight on rangers and unveil the adjustments that will have the hunters and huntresses of Vana'diel sharpshooting like never before!

A host of ability tweaks scheduled for the new version update promise to render your finely honed hunting skills more potent than ever.

Ranger Job Adjustments

Job Ability Adjustments
- Velocity Shot
The duration of this ability will be increased from five minutes to two hours.

- Unlimited Shot
Once activated, this ability will remain in effect until you successfully hit your mark.

- Camouflage
Rangers with this ability in effect will incur less enmity for ranged attacks. There will be a chance that the ability remains in effect even after a ranged attack, depending on your position relative to your target.

Ranged Attack Adjustments
- Ranged attack enmity
Less enmity will be incurred the further away you are from the target of your ranged attacks.

- Detailed damage messages for ranged attacks
Damage messages displayed after a successful ranged attack will indicate the effectiveness of the attack, allowing for players to better gauge their positioning. Critical hit and missed attack messages will remain unchanged.

meh. imo it only really helps if it somehow allows us to /war for a more merit and events. that's the only way this would help be premier dd again.

Hopefully this will mean I'll see more than one or two RNG's running around when I'm playing lol.

Camouflage: 5min timer, greatly reduces enmity.
Barrage: 5min timer, generates large amounts of enmity.

Coincidence? I think the SE idea here is for rangers to macro these together.

The unlimited shot thing is probably because SE is tired of replacing PPA's. It's one more way to avoid losing one (maybe you wait too long to WS and press your luck only to see the US icon drop just as your hit your WS macro).

Velocity Shot: Yay for stupid, annoying little things being removed! More of this, please, for everyone!!

The enmity down thing in general is nice because I mean, logically it just makes sense. Imagine one guy in your face with a sword and another guy shooting at you from far away. Would you really turn your back on the sword guy right there in your face, and tire yourself out chasing the bowman?

The message thing just makes it a little more fair for PS2 players who don't have windower to tell them exactly where to stand.

Nothing super major here, but definitely all positives. I hope the rest of the updates continue this trend (especially the idea of removing annoying things from the game).

They must be getting to the end of their job updates if they're finally getting around to doing something for RNG's and BST's. 4 years of begging for a change to the claim system for BSTs and I bet we get a shorter gauge timer.

overall this seems minor, but will help RNG. I am very curious about the Camouflage thing. And less enmity is ALWAYS a good thing. Velocity shot really doesnt make much of a difference, you just wont have to hit the macro every 5 mins. Unlimited shot is meh. Ok it doesnt go away if you miss now. not a huge difference. the messages, idk. but i am excited they finally looked at what was once the best DD in the game.

Yes this will tweak ranged attacks allot as said ranged attacks will be more advanced than before in form of messages but i just hope it is for the shooter only.

I don't play ranger, or corsair for that matter, but this looks pretty good for RA jobs. Am I wrong?
