Paid Race Changes for Goblin, Worgen Discussed

In case you're wondering how the upcoming paid race changes will affect Worgen and Goblins, Wryxian briefly addressed the issue on the official World of Warcraft European forums. A player assumed the changes "will be allowed eventually, though not immediately," and Wryxian responded by saying, "that's probably how it will be. However, stay tuned and we'll update you with specific details as and when they're fully decided on and ready to share."

This course of action obviously makes the most sense and shouldn't come as a surprise to players. After all, what's the point of making new races if a player could just pay to change their high-level character into a Goblin or Worgen? The real question is how long players will have to wait until they can use the race change option to switch over to the two new races. Any thoughts?

I have 10 characters on my server. Lowest being 54, and always going higher. Every race, class, and profession.
The race change should be allowed only after the server first max level, like anywhere from 24hr, to a week or a month, give or take some, is a reasonable amount.

You can condense your number of toons. There is no way you are playing 10 toons per realm on multiple realms. I have way too much time on my hands and even I can't get that much play time in.

I have 5 level 80 characters and four others 68+. Three of my 80s are geared for Ulduar. The rest Naxx. My 78 DK, although 55 levels free, has required a lot of effort and money to get to 78 and almost maxed BS and maxed mining. My 71 hunter is my first horde character. My 74 rogue was my second horde character and long time focus throughout Burning Crusade. My warlock is 68 and one in which I've also put a lot of effort in. The only thing I have that I would half way reasonably consider deleting is my new 20 priest.

Fact is there are a lot of people who have near max 80 characters. I've been playing two years. Two expansions. Two new races. One new class. Now another two new races and no spots. They are going to have to expand the max slots per realm.

I do have 10 toons on one realm and I don't want to get rid of them. Originally I had one of each race. On each faction I had a bank toon, a couple of toons I played at high level and a couple of lower level toons I use when I'm helping lower level guildies. When Death knights started I trashed one of my lowbie toons to make a DK and that was probably the only toon I've never done much with. I'd like to try the new races but I don't want to get rid of any of my current toons since I use them all at least occasionally. If the number of characters per realm don't change then my only real option to see the new race starting areas and quests will be to start characters on a different realm which I don't want to do.

I have 10 toons on my main acount.
I have 9 toons on my second account (I dual-box the two accounts).
And I have 8 toons on our 3rd account (technically, my better half's account.. which I dual box as well).
So, with various combinations of duos, yeah, I play some 25 toons with a fair amount of regularity.

All of these are on the same server.

I'd really like to NOT have to delete one of my level 60+ toons on any of my accounts.
Especially that I have an enchanter, a scribe, an alchemist, a leather crafter, a tailer, an engineer, miners, skinners, herbalists, and a few undecideds.

I can easily imagine someone having that many toons.
Don't allow it

At least not for the first 6-9 months. Make people roll new toons and spend time in the new areas, that way it lessens the congestion in other areas.
Don't allow it

I totally agree. In those 6 months one can easily play every class for the new races, and the faves stick past lvl 40. By then you'll have an informed opinion of which pre-Cataclysm toon to change.

I myself reroll or regulate to bank duty if I lose interest in an alt by lvl 20. By lvl 40 they're keepers, because of the time invested. However, some have become stale and really need to be changed, and I'm glad for the opportunity Cataclysm will provide.
