World of Warcraft: Redemption

With the recent news that World of Warcraft has lost 1.3 million subscribers in the last 3 months, the imminent patch 5.3 suddenly carries a lot of importance. Bear in mind that, although the patch brings a lot of changes and fixes as well as some new content, 5.3 isn’t a major content patch, so will it be enough to keep players interested? Let’s take a look at why we should stick around for patch 5.3.

Titan Leaks?

An inside informant has apparently leaked to TitanFocus some juicy tidbits of the upcoming Blizzard game known only as Project Titan. While the informant's details must be kept hidden (and as we can't confirm them, take it all with a gargantuan pinch of salt), the reporter states that the information has been validated to have a 95% chance to be true. As with anything in development, everything could possibly change between now and launch (if it is even actually in development as described).

The Thunder Isle Teaser Trailer

Icecrown Raid Tests Scheduled for Oct. 21-22

UPDATE: "Due to issues with the instance servers crashing, we're going to reschedule the Icecrown Gunship Battle encounter for a future time," Daelodev said.

Icecrown Citadel raid tests are currently scheduled to be held tonight and tomorrow on both the North American and European test realms. Players on the US PTRs get to fight Festergut tonight at 7 p.m. EDT and participate in the Icecrown Gunship Battle tomorrow, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. EDT. European players will battle Rotface tonight at 7:30 p.m. CEST and get their own gunship battle tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. CEST. Only normal difficulties will be tested, but 10- and 25-player raids will be available.

Remember, testing schedules can change at a moment's notice and things can break on the PTR at any time. Keep an eye on both the North American and European test realm forums for the latest raid testing schedule. More information on the Frozen Throne raid dungeon can be found on the preview page.

Merry Christmas from the Allakhazam Team

The Allakhazam team would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas today, as well as a safe and happy holiday season. We hope you're all able to spend some time with your family and friends. Also, if you get some time to log in to your game of choice today, we hope you get the chance to participate in its holiday festivities. After all, the grind never stops, but in-game events like these don't happen very often.

Holiday cheer is also being spread in most of our forums, so feel free to visit them and continue in the discussions. For Final Fantasy XI fans, members of the Allakhazam community have written "The 12 Days of Vana'diel." As I mentioned in a previous news post, the World of Warcraft community wrote "The 12 Days of Winter Veil." I'm sure somebody out there must have a decent singing voice and a microphone...

For you Star Wars Galaxies fans, Instigator has posted the official Allakhazam SWG holiday picture. If you have any festive in-game screenshots, we'd love to see them. Also, let us know if you got any good loot, both in-game and out.

Happy holidays everyone!

Restarts Fix Wintergrasp Bug

You may have noticed on the WoW login screen that Blizzard performed restarts this morning on all servers.

We will be performing restarts on all US realms on Thursday, November 27, beginning at 5:00am PST and all Oceanic realms at 12:00pm PST (7:00am AEST, November 28). Each realm will be down for approximately 15 minutes and the overall process last about 1 hour.

According to Zarhym, this was to address a bug in Wintergrasp that was allowing one faction to dominate the other (free experience bonus, honor, shards, etc.). The PvP zone should be acting normally now.

Dev Team Asks for Lock/Hunter Arena Suggestions

Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street has posted two similar threads in the damage dealing forum on the O-Boards regarding warlock and hunter arena issues. He's asking the community to summarize as concisely as possible what needs to be changed for each class in arena.

You don't have to play a lock/hunter to post here. But I am only interested in a discussion of mechanics, problems, ideas and solutions.

While there are obviously no concrete changes yet, this means that the dev team is looking to improve (or at least change) how these classes perform in arena. You can read the warlock thread here and the hunter thread here.

What do you think needs to be changed? Visit our hunter and warlock forums to dicuss the topic.

Elemental Shamans to Undergo Some Damage Scaling

Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street has outlined some changes that elemental shamans will be receiving in the next minor content patch. These changes are in addition to the previously mentioned AoE changes that will remove the threat component from Fire Nova Totem and Magma Totem and the increase the damage from Magma Totem.

Our goal was to streamline a few of the utility-based talents while giving shamans a little more damage scaling in later tiers of gear.

One of the changes is a Shamanism, a new 5-point talent. Your Lightning Bolt and Lava Burst gain an additional percentage of your bonus damage. Ghostcrawler said the numbers have not been finalized, but it will probably be around 10% for Lightning Bolt and 20% for Lava Burst at max ranks.

You can read the rest of the changes here or below.
