SOE Joins the Extra Life Event

On October 25th, the team at Sony Online Entertainment is joining forces with thousands of gamers across the globe to help raise funds for Extra-Life's annual 24-hour gaming marathon. With the help of the gaming community, SOE's goal is to raise $50,000 for the Children's Miracle Network charity. Those wanting to help out can do so in one of two ways:

RIFT and Defiance on the Rise After Huge Week

Trion Worlds has gained over a quarter of a million players for its two games RIFT and DefianceThe company's stellar week was highlighted by the re-release of RIFT as a free-to-play offering on Steam and its participation in the marathon for charity for children known as Extra Life.

RIFT had a particularily exceptional week, gaining its highest single day increase of new users. Trion Worlds also garnered the most fundraising for the Extra Life charity, raising a whopping $63,000 for children's hospitals. The public's reaction to the Extra Life marathon was immense; Defiance's creative lead Trick Dempsey was astounded:

Since 2008 the Extra Life gaming charity event has raised over $4 million dollars by staging 24 hour gaming marathons. Starting this Saturday, November 2, they hope to add to that already impressive number and break their record of $2.3 million dollars set last year.

Gamers from around the world will be coming together this weekend to support the ongoing efforts of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which this year is celebrating 30 years of supporting children's hospitals.
