Double XP Weekend: September 5-7, 2015

Announced this evening for EverQuest was a double XP weekend (for all players):

We’ve noticed your intrepid questing, and we think it’s time for you to get a little boost on your adventures. Starting at 12:01AM PDT on Saturday, September 5, you will received Double XP on ALL servers! Yes, that INCLUDES the time-locked progression servers!

But this bonus won’t be around forever. Make sure you log in to game and boost your XP before it returns to normal on Monday, September 7 at 11:59PM PDT.

And for EverQuest II (for All Access members, but not on TLE servers):

This weekend is a great time to be an All Access member! Why? Because you’ll get DOUBLE XP (Adventure, Tradeskill, AA) all weekend long! The Double XP bonus will turn on at 12:01AM PDT on Saturday, September 5th and will last three full days. This means you have until 11:59PM PDT on Monday, September 7 to fill up those XP bars!

The Double XP bonuses will be available for All Access members on all traditional servers. While the bonus will not be available on Stormhold and Deathtoll, there are still mighty adventures awaiting All Access members there. Remember, you must be a member to access those special servers.

EverQuest II: Server Consolidation FAQ

The EQ2 team has put together a FAQ from recent questions and concerns they've spotted from players. Some topics of interest are below, but make sure to read the entire FAQ over on the official forums.

Q: How is this server consolidation different than server merges of the past?
We’re not merging one server’s data into another. A consolidation means all characters from the designated origin servers are moved onto a new server.

Q: How will we be able to retain names if others have the same name?
In the event of duplicate character names during the consolidation, priority will be given to the character who has logged in to the game within the past sixty (60) days. If multiple characters have logged in within the past sixty (60) days, then the character which was created first will retain their name. Other same-named characters will have an "X" (or several) added to their names automatically until their name is unique. Each player that is auto-renamed this way will get a rename potion to change their name.

Q: If my character’s name is taken or modified, will I be given a rename potion?
Yes, every character that is automatically renamed will be granted a rename potion to use at your convenience.

Q: Will we get free character transfers?
A: Once the consolidations are complete for all of the worlds, we will open up a one-time free character transfer period for one week for those characters who were moved. This free transfer option will expire after one week.

Q: When is this server consolidation going to happen?
A: We don't have a definite date for the consolidations yet. We're currently looking at the end of September, but that may change.

Q: I have numerous dungeons that are used for storage for my decorating items. Will we need -- and be provided enough time -- to move items from dungeons to a house prior to consolidation?
: No need, they'll all get moved to the new server.

Q: Will paid house rent transfer?

Q: Will depots transfer?
A: Yes, personal as well as guild depots will transfer.

Q: Do we need to empty house vaults ?

Q: Should I be emptying my guild hall office so I don't lose the furniture I crafted and placed there?
No, all guilds and guild halls will be moved onto the same server. All housing will be moved as well.

Q: How will you handle guild names?
Guild names will be handled similarly to character names. If two or more guilds have the same name, we will append "X" to conflicting guilds and both guilds will be offered a free guild name change. If there is no leader in your guild, you'll need to /petition to initiate a vote for a new leader.

The City Festival Starts Tonight!

Tomorrow is September, which means it's time for the Neriak City Festival! The festival is planned to start on the 1st at 12:01am PT and will run through the 7th at 11:59pm PT. You can find the Far Seas Caravan in Darklight Wood just over the chasm outside of Neriak.

Visit the Far Seas caravan merchants to see all of the local specialities and other festival goods, and don't forget to check out the four City Festival achievements (listed under Live Events in your journal).

An Aether Race will also be available in Darklight Wood during the festival. Participate and finish the race in 89 seconds or less to earn the Fearless Flyer prefix title! Begin the race by speaking to the referee near Neriak.

Bring Out Your Votes: Server Names & TLE Unlocks

A lot of voting will be going on over the next couple of weeks in EverQuest II. First up is the upcoming server consolidation voting suggestions. Based on which server your characters live on, you should go participate in adding your favorite server names to the appropriate forum post. If you like to see this info in picture format, check out Feldon's infograph after the jump.

We kicked off the early planning phase for the server consolidation of some servers so we can get the populations healthier and feeling more lively. We have identified the servers we will consolidate into new ones. Through the links below, we invite the players from those servers to start suggesting area or NPC names for their new server based on a theme which we will put to a vote for those servers.

In light of the consolidation above, it was also announced that the Nagafen server will be merged with PvE servers; the only PvP server that will remain is Deathtoll, the Time-Locked Expansion server.

The Time-Locked Expansion servers have been undergoing some polls, and an overwhelming majority of players voted "yes" for the two Adventure Packs, Splitpaw and Bloodline Chronicles, to be released prior to Desert of Flames. As a result, the Adventure Packs will release around 9am PT on Thursday, August 20th. Voting for the DoF expansion unlock will begin on Friday, August 21st at Noon PT and run through Friday, August 28th at Noon PT. A vote of "yes" will unlock the expansion on that TLE server on Thursday, September 3rd; a vote of "no" will cause the expansion to not release, and voting will not be available again until Monday, September 21st. Get more info here.

Also announced is the full return of Emily "Domino/Pentapod" Taylor to the EverQuest II team! She has been helping out some with crafting, but now she is back to work on both crafting and housing.

Break the Rules, Go to the Prison Server.. Forever

If you tend to not behave in-game, now is a good time to start. Players caught breaking the rules will be account-banished permanently to a prison server called Drunder. Here's Holly's full explanation:

Later this week we plan to release a server we are calling “Drunder,” which is a “prison server.” What does that mean, exactly? Ultimately, players who are caught breaking our rules and disrupting EQ2 live server gameplay will be flagged for this server, and no others -- ever. Characters on these accounts will be copied to Drunder (the “prison server”) and can never leave or transfer to another server.

This is a server our Customer Service Game Masters have requested over the years in order to manage disruptive players. They will determine who goes there. As gamers, we recognize there are some players who like to step outside our rules.

Drunder will get no customer service support and it will require a maintained membership to access and play. Rather than disrupt live servers in an attempt to join the “prison server,” players can use our /petition system and ask to join Drunder. To be clear: You won’t be able to move individual characters to this server, while maintaining characters from the same account on another server. This is a ONE-WAY trip for an entire account forever.

Ultimately, players who break the rules – or want to – will have a world of their own to do… whatever they will.

As I said, this is an experiment. We wanted to see what happens given it's not a very common option.

Let's see where this takes us…
