The Gunslinger Trials, Defiance's fourth DLC, has been announced and promises to explore many unanswered storyline questions. The DLC is slated to drop sometime in March on the PC, XBox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Trion Worlds recently released 7th Legion, Defiance's third DLC. It costs $9.99, is currently available on the PC and Xbox 360, and adds several new features:
Trion just announced its latest DLC for Defiance, planned to be released in February. Titled 7th Legion, the only information we have so far on this game update is this excerpt of Lore:
“When the world fell apart, one group kept their courage. Guided by the teachings of the Code of Bushido, the soldiers of the 7th Legion marched across Canada gathering survivors as they went. From one outpost to another they marched until finally they found a city which did not fall: Manhattan. There, they made their stand against the darkness, and Commander Yoshida Hiro called an end to their long journey. Now they have come to Paradise. What dread news could this herald?”

Defiance’s second DLC, Arkbreaker, will be released on Tuesday, December 10, and Trion Worlds gave ZAM an early preview of some of the new content and features. For $9.99 you will get access to a new storyline, DLC-specific weapons, the capability to summon arkfalls and exclusive increased daily and weekly login bonuses. Arkbreaker is included for Defiance Season Pass members.
Before we dive into the preview, we have to share a bit of late-breaking bad news: The DLC for the PlayStation3 will not be available in the PlayStation Network store on launch day due to processing time. On a positive note, Trion’s customer service team will be working to manually activate the DLC for all PS3 Season Pass holders on December 10. You can read more about this development here.

Trion Worlds has gained over a quarter of a million players for its two games RIFT and Defiance. The company's stellar week was highlighted by the re-release of RIFT as a free-to-play offering on Steam and its participation in the marathon for charity for children known as Extra Life.
RIFT had a particularily exceptional week, gaining its highest single day increase of new users. Trion Worlds also garnered the most fundraising for the Extra Life charity, raising a whopping $63,000 for children's hospitals. The public's reaction to the Extra Life marathon was immense; Defiance's creative lead Trick Dempsey was astounded:
While developer Trion Worlds has seen notable success with their 2011 fantasy game RIFT, their most recent release Defiance has had a rough time. Despite the counterpart television show being renewed for a second season, up to 80% of the Defiance development team was laid off earlier this year. After the cuts, there was great speculation about the amount of content the sci-fi action MMO would receive. With the first DLC pack released in late August, it has been a long time since the game received notable content. Fortunately on October 28, Trion announced plans for a second DLC pack, Arkbreaker.
