well finally got a good result out of a sapling:

DARK ORE!!!!!!

heres what i did:

planted sap on darkday in porcelain pot.
fed first dark crystal on lightday.
fed second dark crystal on darkday.
harvested on darkday.

i checked the plant when ever i went to mog house. hopefully this might help some of u in your quest for an elemental ore.
