Since this journal contains roleplaying entries, I will not be replying to any of the posts that people have entered into those threads. Please use this thread to ask me any questions you may have about gardening or just to say hi.

I still consider myself new to gardening and don't want you to think I'm some gardening guru. I'll be glad to tell you what I know or suspect about this cute little FF hobby.

Hello! btw you are great at roleplaying!!
anyways, do you know any NPC's that sell flowerpots? the auction house in my area has none, or sometimes 1 or 2... (i live in sandoria)

also, this will produce mhuara garlic, which you can sell for alot of money! (makes 6-8 bulbs)
Pot: Earthen
Seed: Herb
Crystal: Lightning

i dont know if days are a factor, i am trying it out for the first time, but found the info on a website.
http://www.ceejbot.com/blog/space/FFXI+gardening

you can also use brass pot, but it seems to lower the amount of bulbs you get...
anyways, i love this journal! your taru is so cute hehe... visit it almost everyday. keep up the good workaru!

Hello! I am on Garuda.

You can purchase ceramic flower pots in San D'Oria from a vendor in North. He's an Elvaan that stands right by the West Gate. Even with only 2 quests completed I can buy them for 1,030 gil. The AH sells them for 2k.

Thank you for the info on the garlic but I do think that it depends on the day you feed them a certain crystal. Next time you feed your crystal, mark down what type of day it is. ;) Different crystals seem to effect the time it takes to bloom.

I simply ADORE you Pikko! hehe. I love reading your log every day. You may have been a Tarutaru in a past life :p
I would love it if you expanded your log to more than just gardening. I like reading about your gardening experimentarus, but I love reading about your other adventures. Maybe you should just change your "Pikko's Gardening Log" to "Pikko's Journal/Diary" and talk about all your adventures in cute Tarutaru speak as well as your gardening experiements.

Right now I'm gardening with one Earthen Flowerpot :(

I would like to use 10 pots, but I have too much junk in my Mog House right now.... I'm a pack rat and I like to keep everything... Moko grass I kept when mowing the Yagudo's lawn at Giddeus.... Chicken Bones after I ate the chicken... Bronze ingots and sheets, leftovers from my Smithing experiments, stacks of Maple and Ash I chopped for firewood... I need a Bronze bed (I still sleep on the floor), but I'm too cheap to buy one. Just working up my smithing skills so I can make one. hehe.

Hi Dark! Aww, thanks for the compliments! :) It's a good idea for me to expand as I'm finding it a little redundant some days. I'll probably just ease things into a broader scope slowly.

Sell those chicken bones to a nearby cook!! Each bone is worth 1,000 gil.

I feel for you. I just got my increased Mog safe yesterday and um, it's already full. lol

Pikko, your journals have conviced me to get a subscription to this site ^.^
You've been a great help to my gardening efforts. Even if they've been mostly in vain.

Thanks a lot and expect a new journal on the site after christmas. (not to mention a log of my own results)

Hi Pikko

I have been looking at several gardening guides and have been trying to find a method of growing Fire Crystals and Wind Crystals.

I have Brass Flower Pots and Ceramic Flower Pots, I have tried numerous recipes that claim to grow these crystals, but I end up with La Thiene Cabbage or Karu Beans.

I recently tried a Ceramic Flower Pot + Grain Seeds + Ice Crystal in hopes of getting wind crystals but was unsuccessful.

I was able to successfully grow Fire Crystals once, but upon trying the same recipe again cabbage grew.

Does the day or time of day change what will grow? Any advice you could give would be great.

I have used your research as well, and the one time I did grow something successfully was from a recipe of yours. Unless I am doing something wrong, the same recipe has not worked since. I am growing somethings right now from your research and am hoping for success.

Thanks for any help, and your positive influence on this community has been continued to be noticed by myself for several months.

Kyre,

Try feeding herb or grain seeds in a brass pot a Water crystal on Firesday.

For Wind, I believe I've only gotten that once with Ceramic/Grain/Ice on Lightsday. I either got Wind or Kukuru Beans (which will sell for decent)

Hi Pikko! I have readed most of your amazing gardening reports and I really like them.=)

I have just started gardening and have a question for you.
When and why should I dry my flowers?

Hi Darkani,

I would dry them when they're ready to harvest, that way you'll always have a nice pink glowing plant in your Mog House! :)

Was curious if you could think of any recipes off the top of your head that produced some profitable crops. I did a brass pot + herb seeds + fire crystal and got 22 kazham peppers which sell for 200 each at my AH, so i figure thats a pretty good profit. anything you can think of? very entertaining board you've got here by the way, and informative.

Great journal Pikko. I have two questions for you, pls:

1. I use 10 Flower stands, 10 Ceramic Pots, and all Veggie Seeds. Do you know if a Brass pot is an upgrade for Ceramic and an Herb seed an upgrade to Veggie? What do you use?

2. How does one get a Picture linked to their User Name : )

(Ok, that was more like 4 questions)

Heya Pikko,

I'm building a web application that stores the following information into a database. Would you mind if I started populating it with your gardening log when it's done? I could give you and a few trusted others the ability to add/edit entries.

Vanadiel Day
Vanadiel & RL Time/Date
Pot used
Seed used
Crystal fed
Harvest Time
Results yielded

You could search by day, crystal, pot, harvest, etc.
