OK, I'm a Hunter maxed out in Skinning and getting close in enchanting. Secondarily I'm maxed in first aid and fishing. So I'm now a brand new apprentice cook.

So what's the best way to get the supplies I need for training? I'm assuming that the slowest way woud be to stride godlike around the lowest areas potting low level beasts and fish as I find them while Fenris (my warg) quietly dismembers anything stupid enough to attack the heap of glittering gear and sharp edges that seems to be lost in their woods.

Hmmmm, would this be a good time or a walking tour of Azeroth?

You're about a month late, the thanksgiving event will allow you to go from untrained in cooking skill all the way to 430ish cooking with items that you buy from vendors involved with the event.
If you can wait until next year for it, it's easy enough, otherwise yes your best bet is to do a tour grabbing what you need, the AH can be very pricey for cooking mats.

For sure - I'm making pretty good money taking 20 minuted per session for a couple of fishing trips. The AH is also too spotty IMO -

Or you can do it the lazy and slow way and just do the dailies in Org/SW and the monthly quest in Darkmoon Faire.

Thanks 'tails! I couldn't think of the other way I'm finishing up my skill counters lol. A month from the thanksgiving event and I'm getting close to capped on the characters I'm on daily at least I skip the daily when it's one I'm not a fan of.

Unfortunately you're a little too late to go the super easy route. The thanksgiving event can get you to 430ish practically for free in under an hour.

You can get to 40 or 50 right off the bat with cheap vendor items and to about 170ish with fish you can catch in major cities. After that, fish is still an easy way to go if you're willing to roam the world chasing it.

Also, remember to do the daily and the darkmoon faire quests for free skillups.

That is not a problem. the only thing keeping me from fishing more places is lack of bank or water shallow enough to stand in. How many do you know who've flown down from the Argent Tourney to the Horde ship at the base of the cliffs - or who even know its there - just to fish from it? If Blizzard would just get with it and invent small boats, who knows where I could be wasting time I should be giving to the gear grind?

water walking potions are your friend, just don't take damage... depending on class... DK has path of frost, priest has levitate... shaman? has water walking...

Ever since he was just a sprout of a hunter, my main has held onto a weak but otherwise remarkable spear - one that allows indefinite water breathing. Works especially well for a hunter since you seldom use your melee weapon anyway. I've walked across the bottom of a couple of the bigger lakes to: 1)see if I could do it, and 2) See how detailed Blizzard coding really was in a place where no one is likely to ever go.

I haven't tried any of the oceanic bodies yet, though.

Hey, that's it. Why limit us to line fishing? I want a spear gun!

While this does sound interesting, water walking elixirs allow you to walk on top of bodies of water and are also usable while mounted, making for a much faster (albeit less scenic) journey.

I get the water walking part. I'm not sure about the benefit when mounted. Its fastest to just fly a few feet above the surface. And since your flight mount can be mounted in the water. it works really well in areas surrounded by enemies. Just fly to the insertion point, dismount while airborne and dive. To leave, just float up, remount and scoot.

you wanted a bank to fish on, sip a water walking pot and fish where you desire.

Yeah. The benefit of water walking isn't so much ease of travel. It's about being able to stand in the middle of a body of water and fish anywhere you want even if there's no shoreline near by.

And if fishing is your thing, this benefit of water walking is also a key component of a winning strategy for the Stranglethorn Fishing Tourney. Which I prefer to the new one because you can, at least somewhat, strategize.
