I'm trying to max up my leatherworking skill on my toon... anyone got some advice on how to do it the fastest? :D

You'll have different results on different servers, but generally you'll go the fastest if you either have skinning or know someone with skinning. Otherwise, you're at the mercy of the AH for materials that people just don't really farm anymore. Also, some people like using WoW Professions for power-leveling their crafting, as far as what to craft and how many.

Excellent guides there.

Also, check your server's prices if you happen to have a miner. You can farm insane amounts of Obsidium by making circles in Shimmering Expanse (Vashj'ir) in very little time, and it usually sells for more than a stack of leather.
