justice points
honor points

I'm sure a number of folks here have seen this already on MMO-Champion, but was interested in hearing some feedback on the current proposed costs.

Putting it politely, I'm not impressed.

Y'all think it's in line with the current Cata effort/reward scheme?

Wow, I'm as excited about that as I am being able to make 1 dreamcloth out of 5 Chaos Orbs.

They went to a lot of effort to cap point accumulation, since one of the major complaints about LK heroics was that people felt compelled to run them for the rewards long after they ceased being either fun or meaningful, and the consequent bad attitude dragged down people for whom the heroics were still appropriate.

Now, people are supposed to be free from that - hit the cap, get off the hamster wheel. Do some fishing. Archaeology maybe. Start a goblin alt.

And what do they find? Some people just can't get off the damn wheel. So when they run up against the cap, and have nothing meaningful to spend the points on anymore, they demand a point sink so that they can run a few more loops and still accumulate stuff.

That's all this is. It's not cost-effective because it's not meant to be. In fact, the prices /should/ be a big neon sign saying "Are you really sure that you should be doing this?"

I assume you're not excited because you wanted to be able to get more for your JP/HP. These vendors are not meant to be a replacement for farming; they are a replacement for the buying of an OH axe and vendoring it for 26g. These are MUCH more useful than 26g.

Whomever came up with these price schemes must be the same guy asking for 50g each for savage leather on the AH.

Look, they want to give folks something useful to spend their points on, how's about the orbs and the raid grade chanting shards (and of course, eventually the raid grade gems) - Blizz says it wants to make end stuff accessible to everyone, well there's your accessibility.

That's not all of it, actually. Since you get JP from the instances while running your daily heroic to get your VP, you are running on an entirely different wheel that just happens to turn the first.

I still don't quite understand why Chaos Orbs are BoP and don't drop in raids. My luck is that I run a dungeon with 3 other guildies, so 4 of us total. The PuG happens to be a crafter and always wins the roll. Smiley: mad

It's important to view this in context. Here's the context.

JPs will be easier to get, so these prices aren't so bad.

They aren't BoP to discourage folks who don't need them from rolling on them - think of all of the frost orbs you lost back in the day to people who were just going to AH them.

Can't say why they're excluding them from raids - would guess to keep raiders in the heroics?

I don't mind that Chaos Orbs are BoP, but I wish they would have made it that way from release, or let them be BoA. I have three chaos orbs in my bank on my druid, which I can't do anything with, yet I can't bring myself to delete them...

Meh, hang onto them. I'd be willing to bet they'll be usable as a currency for something later on.

If they were boe then I would be able to create a lot more gear for people though. I don't run heroics a lot so it's hard for me to get orbs and so in order to know I'm getting one is to do a complete guild run. At least if they were boe I could run with 2-3 guildies and still have a chance with them rolling on it too.

I really never minded losing frost orbs because at least I could get them from my guild or the AH.

What do you mean if they were BoE? How can a trade skill material be BoE when you can't equip it? O.o
