So the rarest @#$% green gem is the most common JC daily for the past two weeks and this is getting @#$% expensive and annoying to boot.

I swear they broke/nerfed the drop rate on these things a patch or two ago as I used to easily see 5-7 per 10 stacks of elementium and now I'm cheering if I even manage to get 3.

Know what you mean

After doing some mining this evening I had: 10 pyrite ore and 168 elementium ore. Got a bunch of rare gems as a bonus (seemed a bit higher than usual), but only 2 of the nightstone.

Maybe that's your problem. Wowhead lists it as having a higher drop rate from Obsidium.

I crushed 20 stacks of elementium ore two nights ago. I got 18 nightstones. Funny thing is, I had such bad luck with nightstones previously that I regularly had to buy one or two for the JC quest.

I also have accumulated nearly three stacks of amberwhatever (the yellow gem) but only one stack of the comparable orange gems from the crushing I've done in the past few weeks.

I am convinced that all of our experiences with this point to the existence of a scientifically provable formula which I will give the name: Retrograde Numerical Gestationalism. Also to be known as RNG or cynyck's Postulate. I don't know what a postulate is, but if mom were alive she'd be so proud of me right now!

Write it in English, not in Pentagonese. It's not a launcher, rifle cartridge, 7.62mm; it's a rifle. Call it a compass, not a direction-finding module. And if someone insists on being called AdcomphibsPac, the Fact File should explain to those not gifted in garblespeak that he's talking about the administrative office of the communication services for amphibious forces in the Pacific.

I've been prospecting obsidium and I never have a problem getting them. I never get the nightstone daily either. I always seem to get the jasper one when I have no jaspers and then prospecting is bleh.

All green-quality gems have a higher drop rate from Obsidium - prospect it for greens, prospect Elementium for blues (for Elementium, the proportion is reversed).

I wish it was the most common JC daily on my server. I've got just about 2000 of them in the bank right now. Taking up a lot of space!
