Profession Realm FirstsFollow

Anyone going after one of these? I'm going to try for Herbalism, which since Proudmoore is pretty highly populated, will be pretty damn competitive. But my guild wants to go for the achieve to get all professions maxed first, so I figured I'd help out and get some glory on the way. I'm having a guildie make me the herbalism gloves and the herbalism enchant to give me a +10 skill, on top of the +15 I have for being a tauren. I've spent a fair amount of time googling the achievement, and I found a post on mmo-champions with an interesting plan. It's going to be tricky to get max herbing from Hyjal, and you can't get to Deepholm until level 82 because of the quest requirements, so I'm going to fly into Uldum and finish up there. With flight form and increased herbing speed, if a mob aggros me I should still be okay.

I noticed yesterday when I decided to farm on my Tauren Druid that my pick herbs cast was only half a second, that's pretty awesome! It prevents me from having to kill mobs around me to pick that one herb, I love it.

As for maxing one I bet fishing/cooking will be the easiest, if you can buy those recipes for cooking from the dailies and what not and be ready for the 7th, or just sit in org/sw and fish til your hearts content, or max.

This.

If you start today, you can have 10 awards, which is enough to buy three recipes (if you started earlier, you can obviously have more, which gives you more room for error). You can also run them on alts and use them for the meat turn-in, which doesn't look like a good deal in general, but this is an exceptional circumstance. Then it's just a matter of collecting the ingredients. I doubt if the Chef's Hat will be decisive.

Fishing is just plain a race. Over that many casts, luck should pretty much even out, so it will probably go to whoever gets out of the queue first and spends the least time DCed.

i had considered trying for fishing first since it seems like the easiest thing to shoot for as far as realm firsts.
Log on 1 min after expac, fish non stop until it is maxed out, or until i see that someone else got it.

then, i realized it doesnt really matter to me about being first. i think i just want to enjoy new content on my old toons. i want to roll a new alt and level her up, i want to work on all the professions and achelogy too.

toooo much to do to get tied down on one little thing.

Cooking would be the fastest IF a group of people have been doing the new dailies AND the dedicated cook is being fed fish from several team-mates right from the moment of server start.

The other professions work similarly. A crafter without a steady supply of material from multiple sources would be at a serious disadvantage when going after realm first. Best to have a team of gatherers feeding the crafter so that the crafter doesn't have to ever leave town.

Gatherers are more evenly matched and it will be very competitive. Be sure to empty your bags before heading out. A MOL-E or argent squire would help (for mailing). Optimizing active herbing/mining time is essential.

All I can say as a guildie of Pigtails and someone also going after realm first herbalist is good luck....

(I will win) =P

Damn it Therion that's why I said you should go after mining instead! :-p There's no need for competition amongst guildies. ;-)
