4.0.1 powerleveling professions for cataFollow

UGH.

did a little homework, googled a couple guides, did a quick crosscheck between them and everything seemed hunky dory. accumulated 95% of the mats and then my patience ran out.

flew myself to the scryers' tier to get down to business and then realized that the guides i looked at were BUNK!

it's like i was looking at the auction hawk's wishlist for alchemy powerleveling shopping list. as in, pick the most expensive old world herbs and advise people to go 5 to 10 points deep into yellow and you know what? eke out 5 more points at green with that briarthorn there, buddy.

so yeah... if you're looking to get some professions up before cata hits, double check the guide against the profession lists here at alla or wowhead before you start accumulating mats.

PROTIP: allies can make rounds of loch modan gathering the aforementioned briarthorn while checking the vendor waaaaaay off in the corner of the zone for a limited supply recipe that will let you skip a stack's worth of the godforsaken briarthorn. hordies can buy it at the crossroads.

best of luck to y'all, and hawks i hope to mete out some meager revenge in the next couple weeks.

I enjoy power leveling professions. My last engineer started leveling on a Saturday morning and was at 450 the next day. A lot of times you can make headway with recipes you may be missing. I've used Ackis Recipe List addon to scan for missing recipes as I level.

I was able to level alchemy after leveling my herbalism skill, saved all the herbs and power leveled it pretty good. It helped with being an 80 druid being able to run around gathering herbs in form.

I used Akis Recipe List, and common knowledge to powerlevel BS, JC and Alchemy all at the same time :3.
I did everything in 5-10points, trying to stick with Orange/yellow for the best bet for skill points, and what ever used the least amount of mats.

It helped that my DK is both a Herb/Miner. I ran around and collected/fished what was needed and picked up recipes that were not trained at trainers.

I want to say it took me maybe a week or 2 to work all 3 up. I think BS is the only one not at cap due to my Warrior not needed to wear any of the titansteel stuff (what everyone wanted to wear at lv80 when LK 1st came out).
Hoping in Cata there are a few recipes that will start in the 400s so I can not have to do the last 20-25pts on gear that no one buys :3

I am thinking of getting my professions sorted out after cata comes.

The main reason is they are changing them a lot so there will be less of the " make 20 items " to gain skill points and therefore kill the prices of that item , from what i have read i believe the mats needed will be changing a lot and and some items will give more than 1 skill point so i am thinking it will be better to wait.

I wonder if anyone else has been thinking the same thing ?.

The new interface makes leveling easy - click on option to only show skill ups and remove all the grey garbage.

I'm leveling JC right now - I'm not sure anyone realized this, but you can only learn up to about 200 skill in Dala. Now - I guess i have to go to Outland just to buy new recipies.

I thought Enchanting was bad.... JC is the worst thing I've leveled (Tailor, BS, Chanter, Miner, Herb, Skinner, Cook, Fisher, Alch, 1st Aid...) I guesss ENG and Inscription could be worse.... But so far JC Sucks.

Nah, Inscription isn't that bad. I haven't leveled it up all the way yet, as my toon who currently has it is only level 64. But I've tried leveling up JCing and it's insane. Both in terms of cost and annoyance as the mats you need are not always on the AH. My 71 DK doesn't even have JC at lvl 300 yet.

It's not perfect in that the guide doesn't alter for your races but i use this for any proffesion i choose to power level every time. He will even have you go out and pick up recipes so you use less mats, or cheaper ones.

It should be noted that the only things on the site i can confirm safe are the guides for proffesions and gathering skills. Reccomend not clicking the links for gold or powerleveling i haven't and i doubt there worth it.

Guides are all good though as i said person has obviously put a lot of work into them.

UGH that's actually the site that started this thread. TOTAL GARBAGE the assho1e copied and pasted guides from the oboards and other places giving no credit to the original authors, then did a little SEO to get his site at the top of google, then sold adspace to goldsellers. that d!ck can DIAF. please edit your post and break the link because that site sucks.

in other news...

i don't think it's going to change much. i did at first, but then changed my mind. the way i see it, you'll have a handful of opportunities for multiple skillups per profession, but the mats for those blue recipes are going to be ten times harder to get.

That's unfortunate to hear, I have used those guides in the past and thought they were pretty good. I have since been turned off with all the gold selling ads plastered on them though.

Necropost, but the wow-professions guides are still excellent. I used Adblock to hide the adds and have used his guides to level all my professions in Cataclysm so far.

Hint for PLing alchemy - have your JC on hand to prospect the raw greens you'll need for the trip - way cheaper then AHing them, plus, the left overs help your JC out.
