Parked myself in an area with lots of pools, had all my gear on, maxed 450 fishing - three pools and five minutes later contest was won - I doubt this thing is going to last more then ten minutes as its definitely a pure luck thing - guess I'll see if the RNG loves me next week.
FYI, your fishing skill doesn't matter for this event. Your chances of catching it from outside a pool is very low, so you should only cast in pools.
And the person with fishing skill 1 has the same chance to catch it as fishing skill 600.
And the person with fishing skill 1 has the same chance to catch it as fishing skill 600.

Our new tourny was over in 6 minutes. i still fished for a solid hour and didnt get the shark.
Our tourney was won in about 8 minutes. I too continued trying to find the shark for about another 45 minutes with no luck...fml!

And we're not the only ones who are not happy about this - I ran into Old Man Barlo in the World's End Tavern last night, drunk as a skunk and mumbling something about "it used to mean something."

I know - I participated in the first debate thread about it - simple reflex to note that I had the best chance possible to catch something/do something/etc.
