Serious Lack of Titanium NodesFollow

This is half a short rant and half a question.

Let me start with this. In the last two months, logged on and flying/running around SP, ICG and WG for most of it, I have seen FIVE Titanium nodes and only claimed three of them. Yup. That's it. FIVE. It's starting to really annoy me, since JC at this level really wants me to have it. And I can't use my TTSB CD without it.

Anyone else find that it's just nowhere to be found? Or am I just always in the wrong place at the wrong time (or the wrong place at the right time... or the right place at the wrong time...)?

It could be hackers getting to them first. I saw one fly straight through a mountain at impossible speed after taking a node.

I was flying around Sholozar one Saturday morning (very early, before the crowds got there) and came across five, yes five titanium nodes. The real story was that my toon was about 6 points shy of being able to mine them. I did another circuit on saronite to get those points and when I got to 450, three of the nodes were still there.

During normal hours, I have about as much luck as the OP coming across them. I still think I have had more hits in the Basin than anywhere else, though. I'll have to check my gatherer data next time I log in.

It could be that is because it has way fewer people in it...

And I have heard a lot of stories about hackers recently. ICC has the most nodes, so they may focus there...

:(

I've only seen the hackers in WG. Of course, it's believed the best Titanium spawn rate is there too.

Generally I'd chalk it upto server activity (kids home from school, weekends/holidays, etc). Let's face it though, it nevers spawns enough, lol.

I've had guldies say this was the hard node to hit.

I have both Herb and Mining leveled on my DK to fund him to 80.

When I was leveling Mining, I hit many Titanium Nodes.
At the time were were all using some add-on that shared out database, and I was getting "omg" "i hate you" "wtf" when I was flying around leveling mining.
It seems I have better luck?

Basin and Icecrown is what I mined. I use Carbonite, so I could see where nodes where on Map and still track Herbs on Mini.
I just made a route that took my by places Titanium Nodes could be...

Worked for me.

I USED to get them fairly regularly. They weren't abundant or anything. But I could get mats for a TTS bar pretty easily every day (at least, I'd get at least one node while doing dailies and would just have to search a little bit more for another).

That's what makes me think the people saying hackers may be right. Because I NEVER see them now. And it isn't like I'm not finding nodes in general. The idea that I'm just not getting Titanium ones ever seems weird (because I'm not even missing them).

I had never heard of the altitude -1 hack until recently. So, maybe, that's what is happening.

I found 25 ore worth today...so 8 or 9 nodes...in about an hour. Random spawns are random.

You don't need titanium to level JC. I made uncommon gems, rare gems, metas, and mixed in there were a host of rings and trinkets that bolstered my enchanting mats reserves. All of that took me to 450.

And I've read that the cooldown is coming off the saronite -> titanium alchemy transmute. That'll help. The price on ore will remain fairly high because JCs will continue to prospect it for rare/epic gems, but that prospecting is what has kind of borked the economy for people needing it to make bars.

The complete lack of time to play until just before Christmas isn't helping my supply.

Stupid finals...

I have heard there is a way to help "force" a node to spawn. The assumption is that mining nodes are like fishing nodes, there are a certain number in a zone at any one time and when one is tapped out/despawns another on spawns to take it's place. Since titanium nodes are a rare spawn of a saronite node you want the nodes to be respawning as much as possible, and to do this you don't want to make a full zone circut but rather one that takes about five minutes or so, mining more nodes means more spawns and the greater chance of a titanium spawn. A couple of caveats, I have not done extensive testing of this method, I hate farming and rarely force myself to do this. Also, I don't know that the mechanics of node spawning support this idea. My personal experiance from the few times I've tried it suggest that it might work, but it might not. Which reminds me I should probably go try it again since I'm low on mats.

Likes to point out that and got confirmation thru a gm ticket that goldseller/cheating players are using glitches/bugs/programs and such to mine ore veins from under the ground and probably thru walls in mountain hilly areas. I know this happened and might still happen in ffxi and I sent a ticket in and got confirmation this is one way hackers are getting all the titanium.

I was suspicious this was happening in ice crown after mainly mining there the last 2 weeks and watching ore veins vanish on me right when I got too them or halfway thru mining them and getting the: "this object is already being used" message. Every time there was no one else at the vein except me, no mining sounds from another player or anyone mounting up using abilities, etc.

Try to report it if you see this, not sure if it shows their name in the logs since you cannot target them and such. I see it mainly focused around the fleshwerks area in icecrown, esp inside the cave.

I have an alt who is an alchemist and can transmute saronite bars (8) to titanium bars (1). Though that may seem a bad trade off its really not since saronite is in great abundance. I usually have 60+ bars of titanium at all times.

A bit off topic, but I've noticed underground hack miners are going after mithril truesilver and thorium ores too. They seem to really only hit the ores after midnight when most people are asleep. Saw ores vanishing on their own when working on the winter veil quests on my main and alts.

I've given up on actually trying to find the things and amazingly enough, once I did, I suddenly started finding them - excellent case in point - while doing the "Bro's" achievement I found three flying from the bro in IC to the other guy - two in IC and the other in SB (of course, now having bragged, I wont another till February).

Having an xmute spec alchy alt though, I'm not that hyped about them anymore - if I need the bars I just xmute them and one the rare occasions I actually get hold of the ore, my JC now prospects it (that's probably coming to an end soon though as I've yet to get any epic gems doing so).

So how's everyone else's luck prospect the titanium ore?

I get an average of about 15-30 ore a day by farming wintergrasp for about an hour.

Mind you I farm at off peak hours so the nodes are much less trafficed.

While a few might be hackers, sometimes it might just be people in another phase. A good chunk of Icecrown is phased. So if people are in a different phase they won't show up and both of you would see the same vein.

Scourgeholme is the worst about ores disappearing because of phasing. When Lich King first launched someone was complaining every 2 minutes about nodes already being used or disappearing in front of them.
